The U.S. Department of State has agreed to sale Poland another tranche of anti-tank missiles led by FGM-148F Javelin. This time, the Polish Armed Forces are to receive over 2.5 1000 rockets and 253 dedicated launch kits. It is simply a crucial strengthening of the Polish army's ability to fight enemy armored vehicles and tanks.

The fact that the U.S. government gave green light on the export of specified weapons to our country was informed by Deputy Prime Minister and National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. – Another Javelin for the Polish Army! The U.S. Department of State has approved the sale of 253 launchers and over 2.5 1000 missiles together with the essential training and spare parts. Javelin is an anti-tank missile. Head of the Ministry of National Defence wrote on 18 September in social media.

Javelins in the hands of the territorials

RECLAMA

Territorial Defence Units usage U.S. Javelin anti-tank missiles For 3 years. In May 2020, Poland signed a contract to deliver 60 launchers (Command Launch Unit) and 180 rockets along with a logistics package and training. The contract was estimated at $54 million. An annex to this agreement was signed in January 2023. It predicted that by the end of 2026 50 launchers and 500 missiles would scope the Armed Forces of Poland. Importantly, we bought Javelins in their latest version marked "F", which has an improved warhead and increased to about 4750 m of firing range.

Now the Polish military wants to buy another tranche of missiles. The Department of National Defence has reported to the U.S. State Department. This is simply a procedure resulting from US rules governing the export of weapons produced in the US (to which part of the rights the US government has).

Yesterday, September 18, 2025, The Department reported that the authorities in Washington agree to sale the Polish Army 2506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles and 253 launchers, including logistics and training packages. The maximum transaction price that legislature has set is $780 million, but the final value of the deal will be determined by negotiation.

We are waiting for Congress' approval.

Now, according to regulations, approval to export missiles along with launchers must express legislature and has 2 weeks to do so. If the congressmen do not take the level on this matter, they shall be deemed to have given ‘silent consent’ and the contract may already be negotiated by the maker and the government of the State curious in buying the solution.

It is possible that the missiles that want to order SZRP will be built in Poland. In 2023 Polish Armed Forces Group signed an agreement with Javelin Joint Venture during the MSPO fair, a company which, on behalf of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, produces Javelin. According to this document, the mill of final assembly and production of components of the Javelin strategy is to be established in Poland.

What are we buying?

Anti-tank guided FGM-148F Javelin are considered to be 1 of the latest constructions in their class. The rocket with the launcher has a mass of little than 16 kg, and its latest version (marked with the letter F) can harm the targets distant by a maximum of about 4,750 metres.

What distinguishes Javelin from the competition is the anticipation of shooting from the rooms (thanks to the gas strategy firing the rocket at a distance of respective meters before it launches the main engine), as well as a short cooling time of about 2.5 minutes. For comparison, Spike LR missiles in the equipment of the Polish army request about 10 minutes.

The Javelins' advantage is besides their warhead, which, according to experts (no authoritative data) is able to pierce the armor of the 800–900 mm RHA tank (Rolled Homogenetic Armour - a uniform rolling material), which is virtually any of the primary tanks presently manufactured.
