Japan/ Army: For 5 days we were picking up fighters in consequence to Chinese reconnaissance flights

Chinese Y-9 reconnaissance aircraft operated off the coast of Japan on the East China Sea for 5 days in a row – present the nipponese College of Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) handed over. In consequence to these actions, nipponese command all time hit fighters in emergency mode.

According to JCS, from 3 to 7 September Chinese reconnaissance machines flew over the East China Sea close the Danjo islands in Nagasaki Prefecture and in the Okinawa Island area. Detailed reports published on platform X indicated, among others, the flights of the Chinese Y-9 aircraft on 4, 6 and 7 September, to which the Western Air defence Force fighters reacted.

According to the Ministry of Defence, aircraft came from mainland China and did not enter nipponese airspace.

On 5 September, a Russian reconnaissance aircraft Ił-20 besides appeared in Japan. He came from the continent, flew over the Ochocki Sea to the Pacific, headed south to the Miyagi Prefecture height, then turned the same way across the Ochocki Sea towards the nipponese Sea. This resulted in the attack of nipponese fighters from the Northern Air defence Force.

According to Kyodo, in fiscal year 2025, the Self-defence Air Force sent fighters in emergency mode 595 times, with the largest part of these interventions being reactions to Chinese aircraft, which were recorded 366.
