Janusz Daniluk: A Letter From Heaven
date:10 February 2023 Editor: Editorial

The poem dedicated to Emil Barchanski was written on the anniversary of the arson of the monument of Felix Dzierżyński.
Janusz Daniluk read it at the ceremony of parent Emil Krystyna Barchanska - 3 June 2020. The ceremony of the parent and the guardian of the memory of Emil Barchanski - the youngest victim of martial law, arrested, imprisoned and tortured by the SB - took place precisely on the 38th anniversary of Emil's death.
The editorial thanks the author for the song sent.

On February 10, 1982, 16-year-old Emil Barchanski along with a group of students of the capital advanced schools poured paint and set fire to Felix Dzierżyński's monument in Warsaw. A fewer months later Barchanski was killed under unexplained circumstances.

A Letter From Heaven
Mom! I'm writing you a letter from Heaven.
I'm fine with God. There are friends.
Don't worry, Mom, you know it was the right thing to do.
And I, Emil, have no more wounds on my body.
Remember in February, I set a statue on fire
Felix Dzerzhinsky, a bloody bandit
There was the State of War, fear, and I dreamt
O independent Poland, from my heart
Don't feel sorry for the esbeeks anymore for killing me.
When I was about to start, my 17 years
For them eternal contempt, for what they did
I have the love of God and this beautiful world
So many words to you Mom, I didn't say
But thank you for being who I was.
I couldn't live any longer, and I wanted so much
Dear Mother, thanks for my beautiful life!
Mother, don't cry anymore.
With the flow of the Vistula, I sailed consecutive to Heaven
I want I had lived to see independent Poland
Mom, remember, I did the right thing!
Signed: Your "Emilian"
