Globalism has just been hit hard. The European Union is simply a technocratic flagship of the globalist order, a shining example of a transnational body set up to overcome nationalism and state interests policy, to tie economies into utopia based on rules. The EU is to be a serious defender of a principle-based globalist order.
The European Union has just been permanently weakened. Europe cannot be seen as a viable competitor for the US anymore. She was exposed as a client organization.
Ursula von der Leyen and her pompous squad of European officers were outsmarted, restrained and manipulated by a man they had long considered a jester. Through a man whom all economic, financial and political experts talk in contempt. They're expected to know each other, and he's a dilettante, but this agreement is only beneficial to the US.
The European Union has just reached a bilateral, asymmetric agreement without unnecessary additions - without the WTO framework, without the UN's blessing, without OECD supervision. So what happens to globalisation now? If country leaders can meet on weekends and work out global trade agreements on 1 afternoon, why do we even request organisations like the WTO, the IMF and the planet Bank?
And to the associate States, why this Union. most likely by negotiating individually, many of them would have better conditions. On the another hand, those elements of the Union treaties which are beneficial to the countries and their citizens do not require a immense budget, a parliament and a European committee, or a multitude of bureaucrats who carefully regulate all areas of life. The current EU is simply a morbid growth that we should get free of forever.

Trump forces the European Union to pay $1.35 trillion for the privilege of paying 15% of unilateral export duties and, to be sure, gives a lecture to Europeans on wind turbine foolishness
29 July 2025.
Donald Trump showed the European Union. He revealed that the world's largest single marketplace was a paper tiger that could be manipulated, virtually incapable of exerting force and force to defy American demands.
All these allegedly fierce, backstage customs negotiations brought An incredibly one-sided arrangement – in fact unprecedented embarrassment. As announced yesterday, the EU promises to invest $600 billion in the US economy and make "strategic purchases" of oil, gas and akin natural materials worth $750 billion over the next 3 years. We besides promise to buy quite a few American military equipment. In exchange for handing over $1.35 trillion to the Americans, we gain the privilege of 15% of the base work on all our exports to America and reduce our duties to zero. At least we don't gotta pay 30% of the work Trump threatened!
European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and Trump announced all this at a press conference at Trump's Turnberry Center in Scotland. Trump spoke there, based on the notes he made on a sheet of paper with annotations, presenting an EU offer not otherwise published, as can be seen in the mirror below (Welt's courtesy):
This is simply a mysterious document, but it seems that the EU has offered the United States either a 0% common work or a 10% common work and an additional $500 billion investment in US companies and $600 billion in "energy purchases". Trump or individual else, corrected both of these figures upwards (to $600 billion and $750 billion respectively) and added something that looks like "15% in all span" on the right margin. This would confirm that the EU was fooled.1
While von der Leyen tried to sneakly hide her full defeat, Trump treated her in a way that we could call a milder version of Zelenski's treatment. He stabbed the knife in the wound, exposing the idiotism of the EU wind energy in a long monologue, which surely won't leave the facts verifiers and whistleblowers of the government alone for weeks. I prescribe his message entirely due to the fact that The full minute was great.:
And the second thing I'm saying to Europe is we're not gonna let a windmill be built in the United States. They're killing us. They destruct the beauty of our landscapes, our valleys, our beautiful plains. And I'm not talking about planes. I'm talking about beautiful plains, beautiful areas in the United States. You look up and you see windmills everywhere. That's awful. It's the most costly form of energy. It's not good.
They are produced in China, almost all. erstwhile they start rusting and rotting after 8 years, they cannot be turned off. You can't bury them. They don't let you bury the propeller, you know, the propeller due to the fact that they're circumstantial fibers that don't fit the soil. That's what they say. Ecologists say they can't be buried due to the fact that fibers don't match soil. In another words, if we bury them, it will harm our soil.
It's all cheating. It's very expensive. And frankly, the Germans tried and the wind didn't work. You request a wind subsidies, and energy shouldn't request them. You make money on energy. You're not losing money.
But more importantly, they destruct the landscape. They kill birds. They're making noise. You know, there's a place in Massachusetts where in the last 20 years, 1 or 2 whales have been thrown to shore, and in the last short period of 18, well, that drives them crazy, drives them crazy. The windmills won't show up, it won't happen in the United States, they're very expensive...
I'd like to see, I mean, present I play the best golf course in the world, Turnberry, even though I own it, it's most likely the best field in the world, right? I look over the horizon and I see 9 windmills. It's like at the end of the 18th. I thought, "What a shame." The same is actual everywhere, especially throughout Europe. There's windmills everywhere.
Some countries forbid them. But people should know that these windmills are very destructive. They're harmful to the environment. They're not good, on the contrary. due to the fact that environmentalists, they're not truly environmentalists, they're political idiots. These are people who are actually trying to harm the country. But look at these beautiful landscapes everywhere, all over the world. Many countries will be wise. They won't let that happen. They won't. It's the worst form of energy, the most costly form of energy. Windmills shouldn't be allowed. Okay?
All the time von der Leyen had to sit there, completely paralyzed, but for a strangely accelerated blink rate, learning in real time that weakness and submission do not encourage reconciliation.
Of course, no 1 would head Trump making the best possible deal for the United States, but from my perspective, this agreement is the climax for Brussels, which is presently stifling our manufacture with excessive regulation and literal policy deindustrialisation, and which is incapable to usage the combined negotiating force of the 27 EU associate States to do anything but promise to send over $1 trillion to the Americans and pay 15% of the tariffs forever. Germany appears to be able to conclude a akin agreement on its own without any additional problems and expenses related to Eurocrats.
The European Union sucks, partially due to the fact that Europe is not a country and there are no clearly defined geopolitical interests and partially due to the fact that any of its most influential associate States have forgotten their real geopolitical interests. People like Ursula von der Leyen are in a universalist liberal fantasy that never truly existed and has been openly rejected for at least a decade. The answer to everything is no more human rights, no more green energy, no more aid funds for 3rd planet countries and no more universalism. Sooner or later, we will gotta learn how to last in a divided planet and how to safe resources for our economies. This task is completely beyond the scope of unelected, unconscious losers, specified as Ursula von der Leyen, and besides beyond the scope of withered state Euro-men specified as Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
1 The EU offer clearly besides included an additional evidence that we would accept "American car standards". Next to this passage Trump or individual else wrote “opening the country”. Who knows what that means. No specified agreement has been announced.
As erstwhile painters would have put it:
