My dearest Aunt Halinka of Chełma sent me books "First lady. Jolanta Kwasniewska in an interview with Emilia Padol” And asked her to compose a letter to the erstwhile president. She didn't hide the outrage. As a survivor of Volynian massacre, she felt betrayed, not one. I didn't compose the letter. I wrote the article. Let everyone read it, let them know that the wound of Volyn and the Southeast Edges is bleeding more and more.
I just read the beginning of the book. I wasn't curious in the remainder of it. Mrs.Kwasniewska, like me, is simply a descendant of border Poles. Her father, Julian Konty lived in the Borszczówka colony in Volyn. I will remind you that on 3 March 1943, at 4:00 a.m., this Polish colony, as a consequence of a Ukrainian study about the cooperation of residents with the russian partisans, was pacified by Germans, assisted by Ukrainian policemen from the Plains. First, residents were gathered in their homes and shot. Livestock was subsequently looted, and the final phase of pacification was the burning of Polish farms along with the bodies in their homes. In subsequent months Ukrainians murdered the remainder of surviving Poles. According to various sources, the next or only 7 days have been buried, and the full number of victims is estimated to be around 160 (of which 150 have been named). According to another estimates, about 200 people died.
Mrs. Kwasniewska writes: “In retaliation for the partisans, the Germans came to the village together with the Ukrainian police, set fire to most of the 50 - 4 farms, drove the inhabitants to the largest barn and burned them alive. 1 of Dad's sisters died with her husband and a 4-year-old daughter who was caught by German's legs, and her head crashed into the corner of the building. Dad saw all this as a 15-year-old boy.” Mr Julian Konty survived the pacification. Together with his brother and 2 sisters, he volunteered for the 2nd Army of the Polish Army, as did my Mother. Mrs. Kwasniewska was in Borszczówka erstwhile she was 16. Her father wanted to drive her there. On the way, they passed very mediocre towns. Houses saw neither grain nor orchards but the hills. There were besides no graves of murdered Poles only any post covered with weeds and on it a star. Upon arrival in Gdańsk, Mr Konta wrote a letter to the Ministry of abroad Affairs and to ZBoWID with a request to commemorate Poles in Borszczówka. In 2003, the obelisk was unveiled .
The Kwasniewski State had a very good relation with president Leonid Kuczma and his wife Ludmila. They frequently met and talked about that they had to do something to bring about Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation. We read: “If we could forgive the Germans—those who started this cruel slaughter, planet War II—we must build the best possible good neighbourly relations with everyone around us... Talks with my father were very crucial to my husband, due to the fact that the atmosphere in the parliament around Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation was not easy.”
However, Mrs Kwasniewska has forgotten, or does not know that the Germans have cut off from their fascist past, and the Ukrainians have not. Fascism is simply a compromised explanation in Europe, condemned, while the fascist CNS has survived and strengthened in western Ukraine, and since 1990 it has settled in Poland for good. The books for Ukrainian children depict the "rycer humanitarian partisan UPA" and the "hero conflict way of the SS division "Galizen" and the distorted past of Polish-Ukrainian relations, the "decalogue of Ukrainian nationalist" is widely discussed. Mrs Kwasniewska did not announcement the hostile attitude towards Poland and Poles.
Madam Emilia Padol She stated: “The summertime of 1943 brought about an increase in the violent action of the UPA, which aimed to get the Polish population out of Ukraine. It is estimated that respective tens of thousands of Poles died in Volyn and east Galicia. In Polish retaliatory actions - respective 1000 Ukrainians". Mrs Kwasniewska did not object that the number of savagely murdered Poles is very low. A investigator of Ukrainian nationalism Dr. Wiktor Poliszczuk wrote: "Polish retaliation actions are the invention of Ukrainian nationalist propaganda of fresh years" (The Bitter Truth, Toronto 2004 s.303).
Retaliations publicize the heirs of the thought of Ukrainian nationalism in order to alleviate the guilt of chaotic mass murders committed by their ancestors to a minimum of 200 1000 Poles during planet War II. The single retaliation of desperate people, to whom UPA gangs murdered families and the incidentous retaliation on the banners in Pavlokom, (women with children were released) does not constitute a basis for talking about the spiral of retaliation, especially as the command of the AK, BCh and the Polish Army issued an order prohibiting retaliation on the Ukrainian civilian population. In the first half of 1943, could the defenceless Volyn residents completely unprepared for the attack of the OUN-UPA barbarians be retaliated? In the second half of 1943, the few, yet uncentralized, guerrilla troops of the AK took preventive action, hitting only the alleged UPA militia prepared to attack. Later, erstwhile armed OUN formations encountered organized opposition of the Polish underground, the Ukrainian population was inadvertently killed in defensive battles, the leadership of both the OUN-Bandera and Melnyk factions was liable for this situation. Do Mr. Padol and Kwasniewska feel bad that the Polish did not get slaughtered to the last?
I read: “Someone brought a book about Volyn...Dad, having these paintings in his head, nevertheless said “only reconciliation, only common forgiveness ...”. It is apparent that the Ukrainians wanted to be free, they wanted to be of themselves. It's all very complicated, you gotta have quite a few humility and a desire for common understanding. Looking for the guilty of this conflict on 1 side alone would be very unfair."
So you are Aleksander Kwasniewski, after “examining” the subject of Polish-Ukrainian relations in the enemies of the Polish nation, full of false compassion” for inactive surviving witnesses of genocide, for deficiency of respect for the descendants of Poles, began the process of reconciliation with Ukrainians, and de facto with apologets of Ukrainian nationalists.
He went to school to Giedroycia and Osadcher. I will remind you that on the pages of “Kultura” Giedroć with a squad of prounian orientation, he shaped a false opinion, even lied to the tragic fact about the demolition of Polish South-East Borders by utmost forces from the OUN, thus causing large harm in the correct assessment of events in Polish-Ukrainian relations. Giedroć stated on the Polish radio in September 2000 that the crimes committed by the CNS-UPA should be forgotten. This direction of reasoning is presented by the followers of the school of Giedroycia in Poland from national minorities and history’s “speakers”, including presidents. Giedroć granted the “Culture” and related “Literary Zesszytki” to Mr. Osadczuk, who perfectly lied to the past of planet War II. Crimes committed by OUN-UPA shifted to the Ukrainian people and brought into the dimension of fraticidal fighting. In “Kultura” he proved the responsibility of Poles, partisans of Soviets or more indeterminate bands, by the word he created “facts” for the purposes of the bleaching of fascist, banderist formation. Despite the documented genocide of Poles by the alleged UPA did not recognise this fact, the witnesses of the extermination were cynically responding that they did not know the cure for the treatment of xenophobic neuroses. Valued for his achievements during the “cold war” he became a spokesperson for Polish-Ukrainian cooperation. Formed by hostile Poland, he was awarded the Order of the White Eagle by L. Wałęsa, and then by A. Kwasniewski.
During the first weeks of the presidency, Aleksander Kwasniewski, during his stay in Paris, received a political memorial from Giedroyci, and later events attest that he passed it on to his successors. In January 1997 the press reported that a declaration on Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation was prepared. The message sparked large interest in the environment afraid by the increasing influence of OUN-UPA apologets in Poland and Ukraine. president Kwasniewski received many letters asking for a realistic, truthful assessment of historical events. Declaration signed on 21 May 1997 in Kiev by Presidents A. Kwasniewski and L. Kuczma proved to be a large triumph of political manifestations of Ukrainian nationalism, it contained many phrases without meaning. The first sentences stated that "the future of Polish-Ukrainian relations must be built on fact and justice and deep and sincere agreement and reconciliation. (...) We are reasoning of the future.” The declaration states: "We cannot forget the blood of Poles shed in Volyn and the cruelty of Ukrainian-Polish conflicts in the first post-war years". Much attention has been paid to Operation Wisła, even though it should not be included in the interest of the president of Ukraine, as the rebels were Polish citizens and it is only a substance of Poland. The declaration was a model for formulating later appeals, papers and content of speeches given on the occasion of meetings at state level. This only accelerated the flag of Ukraine.
Aleksander Kwasniewski did not protest erstwhile in 1997 Ukrainian nationalists wiped their shoes with the Polish flag, he called insult a manifestation of democracy. The break-up of the plate before the beginning of the Lion Defenders Cemetery, on which he was to lay flowers, was besides a manifestation of democracy.
The highest of hypocrisy was unveiling the “hero” monument in Jaworzno on 23 May 1998. Presidents Kwaśniewski and Kuczma, unveiling this monument, paid tribute to the “Ukrainian victims”, de facto banderos caught with arms or co-operating with them and those who executed on Polish prisoners. This monument is simply a “sign” of denial of truth. Mr Kwaśniewski violated the good name of Polish soldiers fighting UPA in Bieszczady about the integrity of the borders of the Polish state.
In 1998, the Order of the White Eagle president Kwasniewski honored Jack Kuronia. Formally for the contribution to Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation, de facto for the patronage of ZUwP and for the designation of the alleged UPA as a national liberation movement. Hence then the comparison of AK to UPA.
In 2000, Mr.Kwasniewski honored Watra, already transformed into a political age, on which the portraits of Bandera were distributed. specified events, according to the President,” make a large contribution to the work of Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation.” The president thanked for the dialog he conducted with the Ukrainian Union in Poland. Probander Union leaders turned out to be partners for the president and the Polish State, and apologizing for the action “Wisła” was insulting Polish soldiers and all those who stood up for the people and post-war borders of Poland. Let me remind you that Mr Kwasniewski declared that the “Wisła” action is simply a symbol of the wickedness committed by the communist authorities to the Ukrainians. Calling upowskie barbarians “warriors”, without explaining what these “warriors” did on the lands of the Polish state, is ignoring historical truth. The paradox became that the pro-Bander Ukrainian Union in Poland was a partner for talks with the president of Poland, A. Kwasniewski, and a competent organization for talks about agreeing past with the planet Union of National Army Soldiers. The fact is that the technological institution has provided non-historians. Forgeries of past were led by Władysław and Ewa Czaszko and the Association of Memoration of Victims of Ukrainian Nationalists.
Another reconciliation of Presidents Kwasniewski and Kuczma took place at the central ceremonies in Poryck on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the execution of 300 Poles by the Upów hen Zawidowski. This was in 2003. During the robbery on 11 July 1943, the church and the faithful were burned down. In a joint resolution that was read, the presidents called for a partnership between both nations and so confused past that the fact was lost again.
In his speech, Kwaśniewski recalled that only a part of the CNS-UPA initiated a "anti-Polish action" (which is not true), he had the courage to say, "No goal, nor value, even as noble as the freedom and sovereignty of the nation, can justify genocide." Immediately after these words, he repeated the Ounian propaganda about the mistakes of the politics of the Second Republic, about fraternal struggles and recommended looking at himself with the eyes of reconciliation. In his speech, Kuczma omitted the scandalous actions of the CNS-UPA. He didn't identify the perpetrators of the genocide. There were no mention of many thousands of Ukrainians who died at the hands of UPA for helping Poles or fighting Germany at the front.
In a statement, the presidents paid tribute to the victims of fraternal murders, condemned the crimes committed in the past, as stated, against our peoples, and deemed it essential to proceed the search for historical fact together. As always on specified occasions they expressed the belief that common forgiveness would be a step towards full reconciliation of young generations of Poles and Ukrainians. On the monument alternatively of the agreed inscription “Memoir. Regrets of Reconciliation" is engraved “Memorial, Grief, Unity”. It seems the same.
In 2004 on Majdan, Mr Kwasniewski and Lech Wałęsa They stood in a row with neo-Banders, read the inscriptions on the banners “Ukraine Above All” and wished Yuszczenko a triumph in the election. The historical associations of both gentlemen have escaped somewhere. In July 2016, both signed a scandalous letter opened to Ukrainians de facto to neo-banderists, in which they asked for forgiveness of the harm done to Ukrainian brothers with Polish hands. I'm not amazed due to the fact that he was a meaningless and ignorant pawn on a political chessboard. Unwittingly, she did what they told him to do. Mr. Kwasniewski full consciously supported Ukrainian extremism during an orange event in Ukraine and as a consequence paved the way for the presidency of the admiral of the worst traditions of Ukraine, Viktor Juszczence.
During many years of hard talks with the Lviv authorities, concerning the beginning of the renewed Lvov Defenders Cemetery in 2005, the Polish side was forced to place a monument to banders in Pawłokom. president Kwaśniewski stated during the ceremony at the Cemetery in Lviv: "Poles and Ukrainians shake hands above history", and Yushchenko said: "It will be possible to respect Ukrainian heroes who died for Ukraine shortly on Polish soil". The Polish Bishop, T. Płoski, reiterated the words of Archbishop Michalik "We forgive and ask forgiveness". To whom, and in whose name did the bishop forgive?
In 2013, Aleksander Kwasniewski compared Polish heroes to Stepan Bandera. The Kresovians were outraged. On the pages of the Ukrainian portal Historical fact 1 could read Alexander Kwasniewski's scandalous statement. The erstwhile president of the Republic of Poland called Bandera a criminal, but immediately afterwards he likened him to Polish national heroes in terms of "the methods used". These words were written in Warsaw at the presentation of Paul Kowal’s book “Between Majdan and Smolensk. "I, for example, think that no substance how hard we try, the perception of Bandera in Poland and Ukraine will be different," Kwasniewski said. "For us this is simply a terrorist, a criminal and a Ukrainian nationalist, and for Ukrainians, especially in western Ukraine – this is simply a militant for the independency of Ukraine, which uses the political situation of the time, while at the same time applying methods of panic which Polish heroes did not avoid, treated by us as superb figures in our history," he added.
Read at Kresy.pl In 2024, a working group on safety and Euroatlantic integration was announced in Kiev. Aleksander Kwasniewski was in this group.
The erstwhile president admitted that the historical figures he has the top sympathy for are Piłsudski and Gomulka. His generation welcomed the circular Table with the top hopes, and he himself transformed into 1 of the leaders of the left. What left? He deceived his generation and his parents. They chose him with their voices (me, too, and my family). He failed on the full line, most in the Ukrainian topic. He betrayed the Kresovians, killed them again.
Danuta Wojciechowska.
