On the occasion of her 10th birthday, the Stonewall Group presented its awards for the first time.

- I'm sorry. On the occasion of its tenth birthday, the Stonewall Group begins the tradition of presenting awards to people and institutions that contribute to building the image of Poznań as the rainbow capital of Poland. Among the first winners were president Jacek Jaskowiak and Polish Theatre in Poznań - Stonewall informs.

The ceremony was held on Thursday at Lokum Stonewall. The Distinguished received the Stonewall Diamonds. "The brick refers to the symbolism of events considered to be the beginning of the LGBT+ organized movement in the world. In June 1969, at the fresh York Stonewall Inn, the community resisted police, which organized regular raids on queer venues. At the time, the brick meant fighting, but for us present it means building an urban community in which as queer people we feel active - says Zuzanna Bartel of the Stonewall Group.

This year the bricks went to 11 people and institutions. Here is simply a list of highlightes:

Dr. Jowita Purge from the Faculty of Psychology and Cognitivistics UAM - for organizing free intellectual assistance for LGBT+, which the Stonewall Group has been providing for 10 years

Editorial Office of the Poznań Electoral paper - for providing reliable information about the association's activities in times of public media harassment on LGBT+ people

Dr. Erik Matuszkiewicz - for many years of support to Stonewall Group

Jakub Mróz and Leszek Masłowski, founders of Tongariro distribution company promoting LGBT+ films - for promoting queer cinematography and cooperating with the association

Polish Theatre in Poznań - for supporting queer culture in Poznań and successful artistic cooperation with Stonewall Group

Converse Poland - for the long-term financing of online sex education by the association

Department of wellness and Social Affairs of the Poznań City Hall - for noticing the needs of the local LGBT+ community and organising grants to aid those excluded

Vice president of Poznań Jędrzej Solarski - for individual commitment to support the LGBT+ community in Poznań

President of Poznan Jacek Jaskowiak - for pioneering on the Equality Marches and building an open and acceptable image of Poznań.

Jacek Jaskowiak presented himself on social media with his presence at the event. - 10 years of activity Stonewall Group is simply a time of beautiful changes in Poznań, which thanks, among others, to the work and determination of people associated with it is now 1 of the most open and friendly cities in Poland - He wrote. During the event, Jaskowiak besides cited a conversation with Tadeusz Profit, sociologist, candidate of the PiS for president of Poznań in 2020: "He told me what he was most afraid of in the election Jarosław Kaczyński.
