As a consequence of Israeli attacks on the Deir al-Balah area, the main humanitarian aid centre Caritas in the confederate part of the Gaza Strip was severely damaged. "According to our employees, Israeli tanks and bulldozers have leveled the full area, including trees, buildings and all surrounding infrastructure. These actions have besides caused structural harm to the aid centre," says Caritas' message of 25 July.
Last week, at the request of the Israeli army, a medical center in the Al-Burka territory of Deir al-Balah was evacuated, and crucial medical supplies were carefully transported to the medical center of the Al-Nuseirat camp.
Workers of the aid organisation in the Gaza Strip, like the remainder of the civilian population, “are inactive struggling with unimaginable conditions – hunger, trauma and a falling wellness care system”. “Those who died at the beginning of the war are in a way lucky. At least they avoided the slow, humiliating hunger death we now gotta endure," Caritas quoted 1 of the workers.
Catholic aid organization called on US president Donald Trump to intervene and end the war. It was stressed that "the immediate beginning of humanitarian corridors is needed so that we can scope thousands of innocent people, including our colleagues in Gaza, before it is besides late".
