Israel will open its embassy in Slovenia – the Israeli MFA reported today. This is simply a sign of warming of the relation after Janez set up Jansza government in Ljubljana. His opponents accuse Israel of interfering in the March elections in Slovenia.
There is improvement in relations at a time erstwhile Israel faces increasing diplomatic isolation in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip and politics on the occupied West Bank. The United Kingdom and 11 another countries, including Poland, announced Tuesday the ban on imports of products from Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
"Since taking office, Prime Minister Jansz and his fresh government in Slovenia both show their relationship with Israel and express their support for Israel in the European Union", said the Israeli MFA in a statement.
This is simply a return to the policy of the erstwhile government, which was among the EU's strongest critics of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, identifying it as genocide.
