IRIS2 programme in Poland. PLN 2.8 billion from KPO to build satellite constellations for services

Faced with expanding hybrid risks and the request to safe strategical communications, Poland officially joins the construction of the European satellite constellation IRIS2. Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński signed an agreement with the European Commission on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, whereby PLN 2.8 billion (EUR 656 million) would be transferred from the budget of the National Recovery Plan to finance the construction of respective satellites. This task is intended to make the alleged Polish satellite dome, providing the state's communication infrastructure in the event of crises and armed conflicts.
