The president of IPN in the fire of criticism. What's the communicative with the report?

An anonymous study on the past of president of the Institute of National Memory, Karol Nawrocki, caused a storm in Polish media. The document, published by Onet portal, suggests that Nawrocki had connections with persons associated with criminal and neo-Nazi environments. The curious individual himself – the president of the IPN – powerfully denies these allegations, identifying the study as “manipulation” and “insinuation attempt”.

Report to Jarosław Kaczyński

The material published by Onet describes the alleged links between Karol Nawrocki and controversial characters. The paper was to be delivered to PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński before the decision to support Nawrock's candidacy in the presidential election. The study points, among others, to Nawrocki's acquaintance with Olgier L., a gangster convicted of sutenerism and brutal beatings, and Grzegorz H., a associate of the illegal organization Blood and Honour.

According to the authors, Nawrocki was to contact people from these backgrounds in the context of his sports activities, especially as part of his cognition of boxing circles. However, these allegations were rejected by Nawrocki as completely unfounded.

IPN president responds to allegations

During the press conference in Zywiec, Karol Nawrocki referred to the content of the report, calling it "paszquil" and "an effort to undermine its credibility as a civilian candidate". He stressed his commitment to the fight for historical fact and to the rehabilitation of prisoners.

He added that the "brutal political struggle" would not discourage him from further action.

PiS reactions

Mariusz Błaszczak, president of the PiS parliamentary club, who stated on Zet radio that the study was an "unauthorized document" and "a product of the black PR agency". Blaszczak denied that the paper had any connection with the interior activities of the Law and Justice.

Despite harsh criticism and controversy, the study shows how much emotion the character of Karol Nawrocki is aroused. His opponents accuse him of vague connections, while his supporters emphasize his achievements and commitment to date.
