On the night of 15/16 April 2025, the Polish-Belarusian border was full of dramatic events. Border services stopped 4 couriers and 18 foreigners who tried to enter Poland illegally.
Attempts to illegally cross the border under constant supervision
In the area of the Border defender Service in Michałów there was an effort by 7 foreigners to illegally cross the border. As shortly as they noticed Polish officers, they withdrew to the Belarusian side, where a larger group was waiting for them – about 20 migrants hidden deeper in the territory of Belarus.
At another location, in the area of work of the SG Office in Leipzig, the services stopped 7 illegal migrants – 4 Afghan citizens and 3 Pakistanis. Four couriers were simultaneously included, including 3 Ukrainian citizens and 1 Russian citizen to carry migrants further to Western Europe.
Severe work for organising smuggling
The detainees heard allegations of organizing an illegal crossing of the border. Under applicable law, even 8 years of imprisonment are punishable for this act.
The Podlaskie Border defender Branch reports that 30 suspects have been detained since the beginning of this year for assistance in illegal migration. The services emphasize that the Polish-Belarusian border inactive remains an area of increased activity of criminal groups that organise the spread of migrants.
