The decisions taken at European Union level increasingly affect the regular functioning of NGOs and the form of Polish civilian society. Addressing these challenges, the Institute of civilian Affairs joined the Polish Network of European Parliaments as a associate of the initiative group.

This initiative, created and coordinated by the National Federation of NGOs (OFOP), responds to the dissipation of Polish NGO voice in the European forum and the deficiency of a permanent common advocacy mechanism.

Why do we request this network?

In a time of dynamic change in Europe – specified as work on the fresh EU budget for the period 2028–2034, issues of NGO financing, the regulation of law or the protection of civilian space – Polish organisations must unite forces. Self-following complex EU processes and responding rapidly to legislative consultations exceeds the resources of many individual NGOs.

The Polish Network of European Affairs is intended to be a sustainable area of cooperation which will allow:

  • Strengthening the voice of the sector in European civilian dialogue.
  • Exchange of cognition and prior access to information EU processes.
  • Joint preparation of positions, opinions and recommendations on EU policies.
  • Developing competences on Union advocacy and mechanisms.

The formal sealing of our commitment was the signing of the inaugural Act and the Declaration of Accession, which took place among the organisations forming the initiative group in August 2026.

The authoritative beginning of the Network and beginning of recruitment for subsequent organizations from all over Poland took place on 18 September 2026.

We believe that working together, exchanging experiences and building coalitions will let us to take better care of citizens' interests and strengthen the position of Polish organisations in dialog with the European institutions.
