BENGALURU- India’s largest LCC, IndiGo Airlines (6E), is reinforcing its strong presence in the Gulf region.
The airline has made the announcement of three new international routes to GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries. All of these routes are set to begin in mid-June 2025.

The biggest beneficiary of this new wave of connectivity is the Kingdom of Bahrain. IndiGo will soon be directly linking Kochi and Hyderabad to Bahrain. Additionally, Muscat will see a new link from Chennai.
This expansion will further deepen IndiGo’s footprint in West Asia. The West Asia region plays a crucial role in IndiGo’s international network.
Kochi – Bahrain

This marks a significant boost to Bahrain’s connectivity with South India and coincides with a broader strategy by IndiGo to reinforce Kochi as a prominent international gateway.
Kochi – Bahrain Schedule
- 6E1205 will depart from Kochi at 07:30 pm IST and will reach Bahrain at 09:20 pm local time.
- The return flights, 6E1206, will depart from Bahrain at 10:20 pm local time and will reach Kochi at 05:30 am IST the next morning.
The flight will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, known for their efficiency on medium-haul routes. With the addition of this new Bahrain route, Kochi will see its international departures by IndiGo rise to eight daily, a record high for the airline at this airport.
Hyderabad – Bahrain
Photo: Clément AlloingJoining Kochi in this Bahrain-bound expansion is Hyderabad. Starting June 15 as well, this route will operate four times a week—on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Hyderabad – Bahrain Schedule
- Flight 6E1207 will leave Hyderabad at 05:10 pm IST and will reach Bahrain at 07:10 pm local time.
- The return flight, 6E1208, will depart from Bahrain at 08:10 pm local time and will arrive in Hyderabad at 03:10 am IST the next morning.
Bahrain now joins the airline’s vast Middle east network from Hyderabad. It will be the 12th GCC destination for the airline.
Chennai – Muscat
Photo: Tobias GudatIndiGo will also inaugurate service from Chennai to Muscat, the capital of Oman. Starting June 16, this route will be flown thrice weekly, strengthening links between Tamil Nadu and Oman.

- Flight 6E1203 departs from Chennai at 11:45 pm IST and will reach Muscat at 02:35 am local time the next morning.
- The return flight, 6E1204, will depart from Muscat at 01:50 pm local time and will land in Chennai at 06:45 pm IST.
The Chennai–Muscat corridor already sees demand from blue-collar workers, and IndiGo’s presence here will help stimulate competition and bring better pricing and frequency for travelers.
Flights on this route will also be served by Airbus A320 aircraft and are scheduled to operate on overnight outbound and early evening inbound timings. This probably means there is a possibility of another route from Muscat between this.

This latest set of announcements is a continuation of IndiGo’s focused push into the GCC market. Just weeks earlier, the airline unveiled new services to Abu Dhabi from Madurai, Bhubaneswar, and Visakhapatnam.
IndiGo seems to follow a broader strategy to deepen its network in underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 Indian cities while simultaneously capturing growing demand in the Gulf.
These new routes to Bahrain and Muscat further illustrate IndiGo’s strategy of connecting key Indian cities. Especially those routes with strong migrant and labor ties to major GCC hubs. Competition heats up in the India-Gulf sector, especially with rivals like Air India Express also expanding.
