In June 2023 EU Home Ministers established a negotiating position on the alleged migration pact, which is part of the asylum and migration rules. In accordance with the draft Regulation on asylum and migration management of 13 June, the Asylum Procedure Regulation aims to harmonise the EU procedure for all EU associate States in dealing with applicants for global protection.
Last week, the European Union decided to velocity up work on government on the migration pact. During the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a debate was held called "The request for a fast adoption of the asylum and migration package".
"We request a European migration policy, we request this pact and we request it now. Time is up," said European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas during the debate in the European Parliament. “We have all seen the latest pictures from Lampedusa (...), we know what was on the Polish-Belarusian border, in the Baltic States.”
The president of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, expressed akin views. He stressed the request for solidarity mechanisms for the separation of migrants. He besides highlighted the request to end hypocrisy in the European Union.
History Repeats
Beata Szydło, erstwhile Prime Minister, responded to Weber's comment. She expressed her doubts about the European Commission's proposals in the Migration Pact, asking whether they would guarantee that Europe was protected from illegal immigrants and that it would guarantee the safety of its residents.
"I heard akin proposals as Prime Minister of the Polish Government in 2016 after the crisis caused by the invitation of illegal migrants by Germany to Europe.... Years later we return to the same place again, another migration crisis. Thousands of illegal migrants entering Europe," she said.
Beata Szydło concluded that Poles would not agree to receive illegal migrants. However, she did not deny that there are people who are actually looking for help, so she is not against Ukrainians staying in Poland.

Not only Polish politicians
The Spanish Euro MP Jorge Buxade Villalba of the Vox organization was of akin opinion.
"We are dealing with mass migration. Migrants sail thousands to the Canary Islands. virtually 24 hours later, these people will be in Madrid and then moved to another European countries. They don't run distant from war. They just want to live at middle-class level in Europe," he said.
Poland is facing punishment?
The most breathtaking component is the solidarity system, which provides that associate States will share work for the admission and relocation of migrants throughout the Union. Although relocation is not compulsory, participation in the solidarity programme is mandatory. Countries that do not choose to accept migrants will gotta supply financial or operational support to another countries.
Poland has the chance to exempt from its solidarity work due to the admission of refugees from Ukraine after the invasion of Russia. Warsaw may make an appropriate proposal, but the final decision belongs to the Council of the European Union.
