Summer is the perfect time to join army ranks – they convince territorial defence troops and invitation them to “WOT Holidays”. Basic and compensatory trainings will proceed throughout Poland from June to September. Volunteers will learn the basics of tactics, weapons handling, topography and communication.
– In the coming vacation there will be basic and compensatory training for all those who want to gain fresh skills during the summertime break in discipline and work and become a soldier of the Polish Army – says Colonel Robert Pękala, the spokesperson for the Territorial Defence Command. “This year, all our units join the project, so the training will take place throughout Poland,” adds the spokesman. According to WOT Command, 35 16-day basic training and 15 eight-day compensatory training for reserveists will be organised during the vacation period, i.e. from June to September. “We will train about 3,500 volunteers in the summer,” he says.
WOT vacation Programmeas well as ‘Ferie of WOT’, was created with respect to adult students and students and teachers who, during a break in education or work, want to undergo military training and start service. The task has been implemented since 2019 and is very successful all year.
– Those curious in training during the vacation period should already apply to the appropriate military recruitment centre for their place of residence in order to fill in the request for territorial military service," the Territorial Ombudsman emphasises. The WOT Command informs that the training provided on vacation or during winter holidays is no different from those held in OT units during the remaining months of the year. “The preparatory and compensatory training programmes are the same for all,” says Colonel Pękala. He adds that in the last fewer years cosmetic changes have been made to the volunteer schedule. Territorial candidates, for example, have more tactical classes and a small little military regulations.
What will basic training for territorial candidates look like? First, volunteers must pass the preliminary exam from the gym and collect uniforms and weapons. Within 2 weeks, they will learn the basics of military service. They will learn how to usage weapons, learn the principles of first aid, and the basis of medicine in the field of combat, specified as how to treat wounds and evacuate the victim.
