Hungary will proceed its peaceful policy and are pleased that Slovakia besides speaks with a voice of peace," said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after his acceptance on Monday 11 March at the Carmelite monastery of president Peter Pellegrini of the Slovak Parliament.
In a press message issued after the meeting, referring to the Russian-Ukrainian War, the Prime Minister said that Hungarians are anxiously observing what is happening: hundreds of thousands of people die, become widows, and hundreds of thousands of children become orphans. Orbán stated that peace is the most crucial thing today, while all Europe speaks the language of war. He stressed that he was very pleased that Slovakia was besides speaking with a voice of peace in addition to Hungary. He pointed out that he had assured his interlocutor that he would stick to the peace policy in Hungary and that he would like them to cooperate in favour of peace.
"We live in a time of danger and good neighbourly relations become more valuable," he stressed, promising that Hungary will proceed to do everything in their power to have a good neighbour in Slovakia.
He said that the gathering with the president of the Slovak Parliament besides discussed sovereignty, as Brussels wants to take distant the right of veto from associate States on certain issues, including abroad policy. He stressed that both countries consider sovereignty to be 1 of the most crucial issues.
Orban thanked Slovakia for helping defend the confederate border of Hungary and recalled that Slovak policemen were sent to Hungary. "Today, tens or hundreds of thousands of migrants of all kinds do not decision uncontrollablely across Central Europe due to the fact that we have been helped to defend our confederate borders," he said. He besides recalled that both countries "fightd together" against the coercion of receiving immigrants.
Orban added that energy freedom is equally crucial for Hungary and Slovakia, and that is why they besides cooperate on energy, including investments in atomic energy. The Prime Minister thanked the Slovak guest for having managed to open 18 fresh border crossings along the common Slovak-Hungarian border since 2010. He recalled that as Prime Minister he worked with Peter Pellegrini, and during the period of common regulation “the distance between the 2 nations has decreased”, relationship has been strengthened and common points have been found on which common good neighbourly relations could be built.
