How to vote in the 2025 presidential elections in Poland and abroad?
Who can vote?
Every citizen of the Republic of Poland who:
at the latest on election day, he will turn 18,
has not been deprived of public or electoral rights under a final judgement of the court,
He wasn't incapacitated.
Voting at the place of residence
Each voter registered for permanent residence in a given municipality is automatically entered in the electoral roster and assigned to the applicable circuit. Information about the location of the electoral premises can be obtained at the municipal office or through authoritative websites (gov.pl).
Election venues are open from 7:00 to 21:00. To vote, just come with an crucial identity card (ID or passport) and sign.
What does the ballot look like?
The card contains the names of all candidates moving in the election. To make the voice important:
place the "X" sign (two intersecting lines) with only 1 name,
the card without any mark or with more than 1 candidate being declared invalid.
Voting outside the permanent residence
If you plan to stay outside your permanent residence on election day, you can usage 2 options:
1. Voting rights certificate
It is simply a paper allowing to vote at any polling station – in Poland, abroad, and even on a sea ship under the Polish flag.
To get them:
submit an application to any municipality office, no later than 15 May 2025,
you may authorise another individual to receive the paper in writing,
Remember that the certificate is issued only erstwhile – in case of failure you cannot get a duplicate.
The certificate entitles the vote to both the first and the possible second circular of elections.
2. Change of voting place
If you know the place where you will be staying on election day, you can apply for a list of voters in the chosen circuit. It can be done:
at the municipal office competent for the place where you want to vote,
via mCitizen app,
on gov.pl.
The deadline for submitting an application is besides 15 May 2025. If you change the voting place before the first round, you will besides be assigned to the second round. If you want to change your location before the second round, the application shall be submitted by 29 May 2025 at the latest.
How to vote in the presidential election abroad?
Citizens abroad besides have the right to participate in elections. To this end:
report to the competent consulate or embassy to be entered in the list of voters – personally, by letter, telephone or electronically (e.g. by ePUAP),
registration is usually possible until a fewer days before the elections – precise dates are announced by the Ministry of abroad Affairs,
electoral stations are organised in diplomatic missions and another designated places.
Voting shall take place in local hours by the consulate, adapted to local time.
At the end of the vote, the election committees shall number the votes. The partial results are usually published on the same day in the evening, while the authoritative announcement by the State Election Commission takes place within respective days.
If no of the candidates get more than 50% of the validly cast votes, a second circular of elections is organised – with the participation of 2 candidates with the highest score.
