In April this year, in consequence to farmers' protests, imports of cereals and seeds from this direction were temporarily banned in countries bordering Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenski criticised European restrictions, calling them unacceptable and threatening the war-torn economy of the country. Currently, the alleged front-end countries are demanding that the EU renew this ban after 15 September, while declaring full consent to its transit. This sparked a violent protest from the Ukrainian side. Meanwhile, there are many indications that organised criminal groups can gain money on exports of Ukrainian grain.
