House Panel Calls To Defund national Agencies That Stonewall Congressional Probes

Republicans on the home Overseas Committee are calling for budget cuts to national agents that refuse to cooperate with lawmakers’ investments, informing that neglect to discipline agents that deny oversight-related requests setting a dangerous precedent for stonewalling future tests.

Led by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), president of the home Overseas Committee, The GOP lawmakers called on the home Approachions Committee to lead the power of the field to force the executive branch to turn over papers and information in consequence to congressional oversight requests, according to a May 3 letter addressed to Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), who Chairs the Approachions Committee.

The GOP lawmakers have been acknowledged by the Biden administration of defying congressional authority by being reductant to comply with legion oversight requests.

“Agency heads approved by president Biden, and at times, the White home itself, have repeatedly defied Congressional authority to conduct overriding over the operations of the executive branch and how the Administration is carrying out its duties under the law,” the lawmakers return in the letter while engaging various national agents of consequence to home Oversight requests with “relationsance, recital, and outright obstruction.”

Stonewalling Probes

The letter lists a number of examples of alleged obstructive behaviour on the part of Biden administration agents.

In 1 example, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was singled out for providing limited papers and communications respecting the FDA's consequence to the baby expression crisis.

The FDA has faced criticism over its consequence to a nationwide shortage of baby expression in 2022, with the agency itself accepting various shortcomings that have experienced the shortage, including a delayed consequence to Whistleblower complexes about a baby expression manufacturing facility.

In another instance brought in the letter, the U.S. State Department failed to supply papers and communications related to payer funds going to the United Nations for the intent of serving the environment, social, and governance (ESG) agenda. The ESG decision has faced backlash from conservations, and others, who allege that it’s rooted in leftist or even neo-Marxist political advocacy and targets like fossil fuel or encoures taking progressive positions on large social issues like transgenderism.

Controversy around ESG and its impact on U.S. business was besides the subject of a request to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for various papers related to its actions respecting regulators proposed around the ESG Phenomenon.

The SEC, which the letter says provided only “limited responsive papers after signature pressure” from the Oversight Committee, has been criticalized for giving peculiar privileges to ESG activists, reducing oversight of proxy companies, and promoting rigid ESG mandates that burden manufacturers without gaining investors.

“It is well past time for legislature to leave its authority by utilizing the power of the field to compel compliance with oversight,” the lawmakers gate in the letter.

They called on the Approachions Committee to usage the power of the economy to hold government agents available by holding foundation in the Fiscal Year 2025 budget from these agents that have failed to cooperate with oversight investments.

“Federal agents obstructing meansful congressional oversight should have their budgets cut,” Mr. Comer, who chairs the home Oversight Committee, said in a statement.

The Epoch Times has reached out to the White home and to the home Appropriations Committee with a request for comment.

Defunding ‘Woke’ Programs

The U.S. Constitution gives gives legislature the primary authority to rise and spend money, known as the “power of the money.”

Conservatives have long argued thatvast swathes of the national government have been captured by the progressives over the years, with billions in payer dollars being connected to fund left-learning agendaas.

Last year, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) led a group of home Republicans in launching a fresh Anti-Woke Caususus who was to “root out all far-left political programs from the national government.”

In a series of letters to home adoptions leaders, Mr. Banks and his colleges identified various “woke” programs and initiatives in 2024 spending bills and called for them to be defunded.

Each letter flagged examples of “woke” offices or policies that we were funded in the prior year’s spending billing and called for these “and all programs that discriminate based on race, gender, and sexual orientation or see to disparage our nation’s core ideals and past [to] be set to $0” in the 2024 versions of the bill.

The effort to defund “woke” programs Saw any success, with various “anti-woke” additions ending up included in the 2024 National defence Authority Act, specified as suspending the Navy Digital Ambassador Program, which utilized drag queen videos in its recruitment benefits.

“We watch present that the open amendment processes gives anti-woke legislators the chance to defund and destruct radical-far left programs in the national government,” Mr. Banks said in a message at the time.In a more fresh initiative, Mr. Banks integrated an first to defund National Public Radio (NPR), focusing the station of being a “liberal looney bin” and calling on legislature to halt “spending another people’s hard-earner money on low grade propaganda.”
