The Sejm passed an amendment to the Animal Protection Act on Friday, which bans fur farming. Entrepreneurs with specified farms must put them out by the end of 2033. The sooner they do, the higher the compensation they get. After 2031, they won't get a penny.
Animal husbandry on fur could not be defended in the Sejm
The ban was voted against by 339 MPs, including Members of the KO, the PiS, the PSL, Poland 2050 and the Left, against the full Confederation (15 out of 15 voters), but besides any of the PiS Members (55 out of 173 voters). There was besides 1 individual against the PSL. Now the task goes to the Senate.
It may surprise you that present it is truly hard to find votes against the bill. On social media, everyone's happy. Popularity gains the message of the promoter of these regulations, Margaret Tracz, who stated that "it was impossible to become possible".
Members and activists voting against the Confederacy ban do not print protests yet. It is even surprising, given that the current Euro MP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik was professionally active with the fur industry.
The bill must pass through the legislature and the President's desk
Let us remind you: the amendment by MEP Margaret Tracz (KO) was tabled in the Sejm by Members of the KO, Poland 2050 and the Left. It assumes an absolute ban on rearing and rearing fur animals. This is to happen 14 days after the bill is announced. This 1 has to go through the legislature and the president's desk. but for the bill, rabbits. possibly due to the fact that rabbits are besides bred (or above all) for meat.
"It's a very good humane law. We must hope that K. Nawrocki will show sensitivity this time," comments MEP Krzysztof Brejza.
Few social media users note that fur imports have not been banned, so if individual wants to buy a mink coat for example, they will buy it anyway. However, the choice is limited due to the fact that the planet departs from breeding animals for their skins.
