This contract follows the Spanish MON decision to increase its air defence capability. The purchased NASAMS systems present the 3rd generation standard and are likely to replace the transmitted Ukraine anti-aircraft kits Falla 2000 and yet MIM-23 Hawk (which are besides provided to Ukraine). Madrid presently has 4 NASAMS batteries/fire units (two battery launchers/fire unit) placed on the chassis of the Iveco truck. The acquisition of further systems will not only complement the gap created after the donation to Ukraine, but will besides increase the ability of Spanish air raiders to combat air raid measures.
