Historical “Wisła”

– We have integrated air defence of the Polish state, which consists of respective layers. The average layer is the “Wisła” program, later is ‘Narew’, ‘Pilica’, ‘Pilica+’, the San programme, i.e. a strategy of various types of anti-drone equipment, is besides being implemented – the head of the Defence Ministry said. He besides stressed that the air defence was the most costly of the modernisation programmes presently underway.

– Release of drones, rockets is 10 times cheaper than the cost of rockets utilized to destruct them – said the Deputy Prime Minister. However, he added that Poland must have tools to combat all types of air raid measures.

Thomas Rose, US Ambassador to Poland, at the ceremony indicated that Warsaw is the first city in the planet to be protected by the state-of-the-art American anti-aircraft and rocket defence system. "Even we do not have an integrated air defence strategy like Poland," he said.

In turn Brig-Gen Michał Marciniak, Deputy Head of the Armed Forces Agency and Proxy for the Construction of the Integrated Anti-aircraft and Anti-missile defence System, stressed that thanks to ‘Wisle’ and its IBCS command system Our army has acquired abilities that it has never had before.

“The airmen are moving into a full fresh dimension, respective generations forward, becoming leaders of the world's trends in ground air defense”, commented General Marciniak. He added that now Polish troops are waiting for implementation Phase II of the Vistula programme, in the period 2027–2029, the soldiers will receive six Patriot strategy batteries. They will go to further rocket squadrons in Bytom, Gdynia and Skwierzyna.
