[Italy in December 2023 received approval from the U.S. State Department to acquisition up to 21 M142 HIMARS rocket systems](https://defence24.pl/power-arms/wloys-set-na-himars) along with a logistics and training package. The maximum possible contract value was set at USD 400 million. Rome concluded its first executive contract in February to procure 7 launchers through the US government agency strategical Operational Rocket rocket (STORM), although no details were given. The local Directorate of Landarms has now announced the signing of the contract for the next 14 HIMARS launchers, expanding the pool of acquired rocket artillery systems to 21 copies.
