On 20 September, in an interview given to the British “Times”, Keith Kellogg, a peculiar envoy of president Donald Trump for Ukraine and Russia, presented an different peace agreement plan. His proposal is based on the division of Ukraine into the pattern of post-war Berlin, where British and French troops could form zones of their control in the west of the country.

According to the coverage given by the Times, Kellogg suggested that the Russian army could stay in the occupied east of Ukraine, with a demilitarized region created between the French-British forces and the Russian forces and created by Ukrainian troops. president Trump's emissary added that the United States does not plan to send their troops to Ukraine.

The following day, Kellogg commented on his interview on platform X, claiming that the British diary had mistakenly presented his words. He explained that he spoke of opposition forces to support Ukraine's sovereignty after the ceasefire. He added that in the discussions on the division he referred to areas or zones of work of the allied forces, without the participation of US troops, and that he did not mean the division of Ukraine.

Despite Kellogg's explanations, the peace agreement plan in question has sparked much controversy and emotion. The Ukrainian community and east European politicians are outraged at the thought of dividing the country, which they consider to be a violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The figures on the conflict in Ukraine are frightening. According to the UN, since the beginning of 2014, erstwhile the fighting broke out, more than 13,000 people have died and more than 30,000 have been injured. Furthermore, the conflict contributed to the resettlement of millions of people, many of whom fled to Poland and another European countries.

It is worth noting that Poland has actively engaged in humanitarian activities since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of abroad Affairs, since 2014 Poland has transferred over PLN 1.5 billion in humanitarian aid to the Ukrainians.

The conclusions of this situation are clear: the conflict in Ukraine is simply a complex problem that requires consideration and multilateral solutions. The proposal for a peace agreement, presented by Kellogg, although it has provoked quite a few emotion, indicates the urgent request for dialog and cooperation between countries and global organisations.

In the face of increasing tensions between Russia and the West, common knowing and cooperation are essential to avoid further escalation of the conflict. The Polish Government and the global community should proceed to support Ukraine in its struggles for sovereignty and territorial integrity, while promoting peace talks and cooperation between stakeholders.
