Herbert Wells described in the fresh “War of Worlds” (1898) the Martian invasion of Earth. Locked in steel cylinders, they breathed fire on a delegation of landowners, who under the leadership of a priest with a large cross in his hand came out to welcome the visitors after landing.
Then there was only fire, ruins, destruction, occupation. People were hiding in cellars and forests, insecure of day or hour. It seems that a 100 years later another Martians, far more dangerous and cunning than these Wells, invaded Earth. In Poland they have mastered the leadership of parties and parties, government and parliament, most news media. They are ignorant, though zealous believers in the god of Mars war.
Everywhere they see an enemy, agents, and spies, they see the threat of alien aggression in a period or a fewer years. They request large arms supplies, [which contracts will be (?) carried out around 2030, and aggression is due to happen between 2026 and 27!], large arms spending at the expense of health, education, science, development. They spread fear of war, thus prone to sacrifice and reconcile with a decline in comparative prosperity. This is besides supported by patriotic education, in a romantic, martyrdom version of history.
Worse still, the elite of the fresh Martians managed to “return” a large part of society to believe in a war idol. This is evidenced by the increasing belief in the inevitability of war in the close future, the failure of pacifist and peaceful attitudes, the deficiency of protests against excessive armaments. There are people who want to send Polish soldiers to the east Ukrainian Front! It would be a casus belli! Of course, NATO would not let for the failure of an inch of our territory, but after the "transitional" stay of abroad troops and fierce front fights only stone on stone would stay from Poland.
The “military morality” of the fresh Martians resembles the mediate Ages when, on behalf of the state, employed troops fought. "Let's deliver arms and money to Ukraine due to the fact that Ukrainians are fighting for our freedom". The Polish president convinced the American talker of the home of Representatives to unlock $60 billion, as "it is better to pay than to exposure American soldiers to death." This conviction was repeated by the American after the law on financial assistance of Ukraine was passed. [Ukrainian soldiers – “mere men” do not die? In addition, all word about the cessation of war (in Ukraine, Syria, Israel, Africa) is officially considered contrary to the Polish state's ration and even treason, although it is the opposite!
I will mention a fewer specified rational voices, opposed to absurd wars, the demolition of material and cultural goods, the deaths of millions of people:
* Oh, my God * The constant advocate of peace is Pope Francis"The destiny of man is not death, but life; not war, but peace!" In his speech before giving the Easter blessing, Urbi et orbi (31.03.2024) called for negotiations and peace in the 70 wars presently under way. He mentioned any of them: the war in Ukraine, Syria, Israel, Yemen and Somalia. The conclusion of peace is simply a compromise in which both sides waive any demands. But it is better to lose part of the territory than to kill thousands of people and destruct the country!
* Oh, my God * Economist Grzegorz Kolodko (Review, 18.02.2024) that a fresh cold war has been taking place for 2 years. The planet spends $2.4 trillion on the military – for half of this amount you could destruct the utmost poorness of 630 million people! In the fumes of the Cold War, the ability to think soberly almost died: “Russia will invade Poland”, “Americans do not want to war with Iran, but gotta do what they must” etc., etc. The regulation is one: to convince people that they are being attacked, condemn the pacifists for deficiency of patriotism and endangering themselves and in the name of political correctness to be misled.
The cold war atmosphere is primarily utilized by the arms manufacture and arms dealers. In 2022, the stock exchanges of the factories in this sector increased by almost 300 %! Governments spend more and more on arms; of course on the alleged national defence (everybody wants to defend themselves, no 1 attacks. This year's US military budget is $888 billion. There are countries, like Poland, which bought weapons for $300 billion. How much better would the socio-economic situation be if these funds were allocated to rational improvement goals?
There will come a time erstwhile people will show on a large scale against a war that kills not only people, but besides opportunities for sustainable development. Cold war psychosis is deliberately fueled by the military-industrial lobby and its political and media circles.
Instead of confronting emerging Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian blocs can compete peacefully. Moreover, resumption of economic, cultural and diplomatic levers can make military preparations useless. Poland and the European Union should act in this direction. NATO alliance loyalty does not require reckless submission to its largest member.
* Oh, my God * Łukasz Jastrzębski, right-wing columnist Polish thoughts evoke the words of Roman Dmowski: “The hazard of Poland, its future must not be lost either by an individual, or by organizing any, or even a generation.” Meanwhile, insurrectional, romanticist propaganda pushes Poland towards war. The author's opposition to war, whether in Ukraine, Palestine or anywhere, is due to 3 reasons: work for loved ones, realism and patriotism. He does not want Polish soldiers to fight in abroad countries, he is against the demolition of war, he yet wants Poland's peaceful development, alternatively than immense expenditure on arms.
Polish state reason is peace and peace in our region. The ration of the state is anti-war. Our reason is good relations with our neighbors. However, seldom 1 who speaks about peace, nobody considers the situation between countries after the end of the war in Ukraine – only 2 possibilities are considered: triumph and reconstruction of Ukraine, and the victorious march of Russian troops to the Baltic countries, Poland and beyond...
* Oh, my God * Roman Kurkiewicz, columnist of the left-wing “Review“ It’s definitely antiwar. ” It is ironic that active and retired generals make dangerous faces, consider in the media various strategical plans, foretell a fast triumph – or request to retreat to pre-elected positions. They request a crucial increase in arms supply to prevent possible Russian troops from moving beyond Dniepr, all the way to Lithuania, Poland, the Balkans. [Would the defence of NATO's territory run in the Oder or the Rhine? – KG] War propaganda can increase romanticist patriotism in Poles ("for your freedom and ours", "we will not quit a button", "how sweet and sublime it is to die for Homeland" etc.)
President Duda comes to the sukurs for generals, reacting to the Minister Sikorski's abroad policy exposé, including his alliance with Germany, his attachment to the European Union, and president Kaczyński, denying the request to participate in the European iron dome. As long as we talk, we don't shoot each other. Is that why we don't talk about shooting?
In a speech to the candidates for the prime minister's Euro MPs Donald Tusk He said it was comparatively easy to start a war, but the art is to avoid it. It takes diplomacy, alliances, preparations to defy or attack. And that's what we do. (But why on specified a scale, at the expense of the standard of surviving of citizens?).
Despite widespread russophobia, Poles do not want war on Russia, although the media has a fear of Russian invasion. NATO's defence would have been effective, but from Poland, the front country, it would have remained nothing but ruins. The work of diplomacy is to guarantee peace!
Wells' Martians defeated Earth's microbes – their organisms did not withstand Earth's diseases. fresh Martians, today's followers of the Roman god of war, can halt rational politicians, assisted by average peace-thinking people, as opposed to profit-seeking arms companies and their lobbyists. Prayer, appeals of authority, and resolutions of global organizations will not help. The hope remains that politicians will come to their senses – only peace in the planet depends on them!
