Greeks like fresh F-35 alternatively of upgrading F-16

Greece ordered 20 F-35A in 2024 and the first of these machines is to be handed over to their armed forces in 2028. The contract was worth $3.5 billion, but besides provided for an option for another 20 machines. In addition, Greece has ordered the modernization of 83 of its top F-16 Block 52+ for a V package, which is Block 70/72. The first upgraded F-16s were handed over to Athens in September 2022, and the full process is scheduled to end in 2027. presently more than 30 machines have already been raised for the V package. In turn, in 2028 the first Greek F-35A supplies will begin.
