Jan Grabić, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, reported on Tuesday about the allegedly expanding activity of abroad interviews in Poland. He felt that harmonised action was needed at both national and global level in consequence to this threat. Furthermore, he pointed out that Prime Minister Donald Tusk planned to address this subject in item during the event planned for 10 May.

Grabiec discussed these issues with journalists after the government gathering in Katowice on Tuesday, focusing on the function of peculiar services and counterintelligence threats in Poland.

“In the face of the expanding activity of abroad interviews in Poland, coordinated action is essential at both national and global level. The cooperation of investigative services with abroad partners may be crucial in combating threats and preventing incidents," he said.

He stressed that “it is crucial for the public to be aware of the situation and to support the activities of the services to defend national security”.

“Complete support is needed for law enforcement authorities, which work intensively to explain incidents and defend the country from possible threats. All information on the activities of the services should be taken with due care to guarantee the safety of citizens and the stableness of the country," he continued.

Grabić estimated that Poland has been in the ellipse of abroad intelligence services for a long time, “especially due to the situation on the east border of the country”. “Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced to supply information on this on May 10, which could shed more light on the current situation and the actions taken”, he said.

Tomasz Szmydt serves as a justice of the 2nd Regional Administrative Court in Warsaw. A disciplinary procedure was initiated on the basis of the information given to the spokesperson of that court in connection with his decision. Prior to that, the safety services informed of the initiation of an investigation into the cooperation of the justice with Russian intelligence. His name appeared in the media in the context of the alleged hatred scandal in the Ministry of Justice. In 2019, Onet.pl portal revealed that Tomasz Szmydt's ex-wife, Emilia, was active in spreading compromising information about judges criticizing reforms in judiciary. As a result, Szmydt was temporarily suspended in his duties.

In 2022 the Shmydt criticized the Government of the United Right. In an interview to Onet, he revealed the actions of a group of judges associated with the then government.

Tomasz Szmydt was appointed a justice in 2012 by then president Bronisław Komorowski.
