Tests to verify the operation of Unmanned Search and Hit Systems were performed at the Toruna camp. These are unmanned effects which are part of the Polish GLADIUS reconnaissance and impact system, which will be delivered to the Rocket and Artillery Army in December of this year.
GLADIUS is simply a Polish detection and impact strategy equipped with advanced sensors and effectsors, national communication and communication solutions and fire management systems, as well as complex data analysis systems supported by artificial intelligence. It is another modern solution introduced to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, which will greatly grow the capabilities of the Rocket and Artillery Forces to detect targets and harm at a long distance.
Rocket and Artillery troops are a leader in modernization, closely cooperating with leading national actors in the industry, specified as the WB GROUP. The ordered GLADIUS strategy is subject to tests, which, before transportation in December, verify the operation of the individual elements of the strategy as well as the whole.
The test component is to check the operation of Unmanned Search and Hit Systems (BSP-U). They were executed at the Army and Military Training Centre in Toruń, where BSP-U with a warhead hit and destroyed the target.
At the same time, as part of the briefing of the Chief of Rocket and Artillery, the GLADIUS strategy was presented to the future user. Artillerians had the chance to get acquainted with strategy elements both during statistical presentation, as well as in operation with command and launchers and the actual BSP-U operation with the warhead.
Battery module of unmanned search and impact systems GLADIUS is designed for Rocket and Artillery Forces Land troops. It is utilized for aircraft designation and impact missions performed by specialized unmanned aircraft platforms. GLADIUS may be utilized in the battery group as well as in autonomous platoons or sections supporting another units of the Land Army.
GLADUS is simply a completely Polish development. All components are combined by Integrated combat management strategy TOPAZ. Command and communication solutions (FONET digital vehicle communication platform, computer terminals, LAN and WAN active elements, tactical radio stations) and integration into 1 coherent strategy are implemented by the WB Group. The main contractor is WB Electronics SAThe subcontractors are WB Groups — Flytronic S.A. and ZAiUP AREX sp. z o.o. and Huta Stalowa Wola S.A.
The GLADIUS strategy consists of 2 basic varieties of unmanned aircraft. First, families BSP FT-5, are intended for reconnaissance missions and have been equipped with different sensors to detect and track objects in the visible and radio-electronic emissions range.
Unmanned Air-Strike Ships (BSP-U) are utilized for impact missions, performed utilizing various types of warheads, including shrapnel-storming or cumulative. Their variety is Unmanned Aircraft-Hunting Training (BSP-UT). These are reusable platforms that are equipped with training heads. They execute the same set of missions as BSP-U, but without the anticipation of destroying objects.
The GLADIUS strategy besides includes a scope of vehicles. These include battery and plutonium level command cars, coordinating and tracking reconnaissance and impact operations utilizing proprietary communications systems. C4I-class solutions, including the TOPAZ strategy for planning and commanding components of the battery fire module, were built on tactical chassis of multi-purpose Waran 4×4 vehicles supplied by HSW S.A.
The strategy elements are besides Trucks Launchers built on the chassis of vehicles 4×4, equipped with a universal launcher for all Unmanned Air Ships of the GLADIUS system. This solution allows full variation in case of harm or demolition of the launcher.
The strategy is besides supported by another vehicles, including logistics, specified as Ammunition Vehicles and method safety Vehicles. The first secures the transport of BSP FT-5 and BSP-U to the launcher's car, the second allows the diagnosis of harm and repair of field equipment.
