Georgia: Consolidation of the Anti-Western and Authoritarian regulation of the Georgian Dream

On 15–16 April, Georgian president Mikheil Kavelashvili, unrecognized by the opposition, visited Azerbaijan for his first abroad visit as head of state. This choice is evidence not only of the close relations between the 2 countries – together they form a latitudinal “bridge” for the main Caucasian communication and transport routes – but besides of the direction of improvement adopted by Tbilisi. Formally, Georgia remains an EU candidate, but in practice it is increasingly distancing itself from Brussels.
