"A multi-option operation is being prepared, which mostly depends on how peace talks will take place," he said.
The military commander stressed that the operation is inactive at a very early phase of planning.
Kukuła added that details of the applicable contracts are not disclosed.
With mention to the forthcoming gathering of military leaders of respective countries in London, the General explained that “it serves to make an operation to guarantee peace in Ukraine”. According to him, following statements by the political leaders of the states, scheduled meetings are held on the form of specified an operation at the level of military command of countries willing to participate in the mission.
"We have defined guidelines, directions of interaction and possible developments, now we are passing this on to the planning authorities – that is, the command that is considering planning operations and possible interaction," the general said.
He said that there were respective possible options for operations, as well as identifying the forces that would be needed to "ensure this kind of safety guarantee".
"Let us remember that the main engine of all specified activities will be the conduct of peace talks and they will find the main direction of the operation. As an army, we must be prepared for all improvement of the situation," the general stressed.
When asked how Warsaw could participate in the peace mission, General Kukuła said that “the participation of Poland will be as defined at political level”.
"We will not affect our soldiers in operations in Ukraine, but we realise that it is impossible to carry out this operation without Poland's participation, even due to our peculiar geopolitical situation. Borders with Ukraine, and from Poland to Ukraine runs the most convenient network of motorways and another logistics connections" - recalled the Chief of the General Staff.
According to him, Poland is able to supply “a very wide scope of competences, primarily related to the building of troops” to supply “the safety warrant of Ukraine”, as well as logistical support for these troops and supply training infrastructure “to train Ukrainian troops or keep the readiness of forces to warrant this stableness and peace”.
The Bloomberg press agency had previously informed that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French president Emmanuel Macron had attempted to engage 37 countries in the creation of alleged willing coalitions – a group of states ready to deploy "peace forces" in Ukraine and to supply Kiev with safety guarantees.
Russian abroad Minister Sergei Lavrow said on 6 March that Russia does not see the anticipation of a compromise on the deployment of European "peace forces" in Ukraine. As the Russian Minister recalled, if a abroad contingent is deployed, Western countries will not want to agree to the conditions of peaceful regulation, as this quota will make ‘facts in the field’.
