Gdansk: Gas pipeline failure, evacuation of 200 people from the terminal

On Saturday around 12:30 a.m., a gas pipeline was damaged on Major Henryk Sucharski Street at the ferry terminal in Gdańsk. The crash study was received by emergency services, which immediately took protective action.

About 200 people were evacuated due to a gas leak. Among them were terminal staff and people staying in catering facilities in the area.

Six guards on site

«In connection with the danger of gas leakage, about 200 people were evacuated - terminal workers and people staying in catering premises" - said Captain Andrzej Piechowski of the Pomeranian Fire Department. A full of six fire brigades operate at the scene.

Among the units active are 2 troops from the Port Fire Department. The area has been secured, and the services proceed to neutralise the threat.

No information on victims

Emergency services reported that there was no information about the persons affected by the gas pipeline failure. Work is ongoing to destruct the threat completely and reconstruct safety at the ferry terminal.
