The tragic balance of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip has increased to 1760 killed residents who have tried to collect food and support in the last 3 months. The latest UN data from Friday show a dramatic deterioration compared to erstwhile compilations.

From 27 May to 13 August, 994 Palestinians died close the food transportation points conducted by the GHF organization, and 766 along the roads that were moved by convoys with assistance - calculated in the Friday OHCHR report. A full of 1,373 killed while waiting for humanitarian aid were reported in the erstwhile study in early August.

Increase in casualties in convoys

By early August, most of the victims were people shot close GHF points. 135 specified cases have been reported in the last 2 weeks. 252 people were killed in attacks close the routes of the UN convoys and another organizations - almost twice as many as at GHF centres.

According to the UN data in early August, nearly 90% of its aid shipments have not reached their destination in fresh months. Transports were "peacefully intercepted by hungry people or taken by force by armed units".

A controversial aid scheme

Israel has long accused Hamas of looting transports and the UN of inability to distribute aid. In response, Israel promoted a fresh aid scheme, created by the US-backed Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF).

The organization has been operating since the end of May and is to guarantee that food reaches the needy, not being robbed. Since then, fatal shootings have occurred regularly around GHF points.

Accusations of the parties to the conflict

Four large GHF centers are surrounded by crowds of desperate, hungry Palestinians. The Israeli army declares that the incidents are partially provoked by Hamas, who besides inflates the number of casualties, and soldiers only shoot people who are a threat.

According to the media, besides Israelis, the advanced number of killed is due, among another things, to the deficiency of resources and the ability of soldiers to control the crowd by another methods. The UN and another organizations criticise GHF, accuse it of inefficiency, politicisation and militarisation of humanitarian aid.

Other victims on Friday

On Friday, 23 people were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, 12 of them awaiting humanitarian aid, reported the AFP agency, citing Hamas-controlled civilian defence. The war in the Gaza Strip has continued since October 7, 2023, erstwhile the ruling Hamas territory invaded confederate Israel, killing about 1,200 people and kidnapping 251.

About 20 live hostages are inactive in prison. According to the Gaza authorities, over 61.8 1000 Palestinians were killed in Israeli retaliation. The truce negotiations are stuck in an impasse.

Israel announced a fresh offensive and the capture of the city of Gaza, meaning the displacement of about half of 2.1 million inhabitants of the territory. The war-torn Gaza Strip is deepening the humanitarian crisis, including hunger, which is 1 of the causes of Israel's increasing criticism from the world's public.
