Flying naval bases – American consequence to Chinese threats

On March 1, 2023, the U.S. Navy launched the 4th kind of ESB USNS "John L. Canley" (ESB 6) to service as a multi-purpose floating base. The United States wants to supply logistical support for its ships in long-term activities distant from its home ports – especially in the Western Pacific.
