"Russia completely disregards the peace process"

Elina Valtonen, attending the gathering of EU abroad Ministers in Luxembourg, condemned the Sunday Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, pointing out that Russian forces deliberately hit civilian infrastructure, resulting in the deaths of many people, including children. She noted that the attack took place just after the U.S. President's envoy Steve Witkoff visited Petersburg, where he met Vladimir Putin.

As she said:

This shows that Russia completely disregards the peace process and has no respect for human life.

Valtonen stressed that the situation motivates the European Union to intensify its force on Moscow. It adds that the EU has started work on the 17th package of sanctions, which are intended to further weaken the Russian economy. In her view, the fall in oil prices is now crucial due to the fact that Russia is dependent on oil and gas exports and the fall in prices will weaken its ability to wage war and invest in the military industry.

The sanctions are working.

The Finnish politician pointed out that EU sanctions on Russia over the last 3 years have been effective, even though Moscow is trying to avoid them. The evidence of this is, in her opinion, the expanding inflation in Russia, peculiarly in fresh months, which has worsened the quality of life of citizens. Valtonen stressed that the Union wants to support the Russians in their quest to turn the country into a real democracy, offering them assistance as partners.

As a consequence of a Russian rocket attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, at least 34 people died on Palm Sunday and 117 were injured. The attack in the north-east of Ukraine met with condemnation by the leaders of Poland, the EU, France, large Britain, Germany and Italy.

Trump speaks of a mistake and blames Biden

Donald Trump besides referred to the attack on Suma.

I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it's a terrible thing. I think the full war is terrible. I believe that this war has begun is an abuse of power.

The President, erstwhile asked about his earlier message regarding the Russian mistake, simply repeated that the Russians "made a mistake". He added that the war in Ukraine is Biden's war, not his, and that he seeks to end it to save as many lives as possible. He besides said millions of people lost their lives. Trump suggested that Putin decided to attack Ukraine due to the fact that he did not respect Biden and had no good relations either with Zelenski or with another leaders.

Regarding the gathering of his envoy, Steve Witkoff, with Vladimir Putin, Trump stated that these were "good meetings" related to Russia and Ukraine.
