The Baltic Air Police Mission is the surveillance of the airspace of the Baltic States under the NATO-VW Air defence System. Aeroplanes are ready to respond to threats and are being picked up for take-off as an aircraft considered dangerous approaches the borders of these countries. It has been held since 2004, as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia do not have their own fighter aircraft, it gained importance after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014. At the time, it was decided to deploy additional aircraft, resulting in the mission mostly fulfilling more than 1 state. Currently, after a full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, NATO aviation operations in the region are even more intense to mention the presence of allies in Poland.
