Almost half of the provincial police chiefs decided to leave their posts - reports Krzysztof Zasza, writer RMF FM. As a consequence of the resignation of Chief Commandant Jarosław Szymczyk, we observe the mass exodus of the management staff of the largest uniform service in Poland.
The commanders informed about their departure from the function: capital, Małopolska, Podlasie, Silesian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Pomeranian. However, the heads of command from Opole and Lublin will stay in their positions. As a result, the Lower Silesian Provincial Commandant besides announced his departure. These are 7 provincial command commanders who follow in the footsteps of Jarosław Szymczyk and resign their duties.
According to plans, departures are due next year. any officers foretell retirement as early as January, while others decided to wait until February. These deadlines depend on the strategy of utilizing the wage and pension strategy to make the departure as financially beneficial as possible.
Our reporter found out that even before resigning, the Chief of Police decided to increase the function allowances for any provincial commandants. The amount of PLN 2 000 will be included in the calculation of the pension.
Jarosław Szymczyk, head of the KGB, resigned in early December, making himself available to the superiors. His duties were assumed by Superintendent Dariusz Augustyniak. Szymczyk was the longest-serving Chief of Police in the past of the 3rd Republic, taking up this position in 2016. In his farewell letter, addressed to officers, police and pensioners, he expressed his gratitude and commitment to service.
"I am honored to be the superior of specified wonderful and valuable people as you. Thank you very much” – he wrote.
During the period erstwhile Jarosław Szymczyk served as commandant, police salaries increased significantly, and the formation underwent modernization, including the acquisition of American Black Hawk helicopters.
However, there are controversy over the advanced level of vacancies at the executive level in the service and the decision to act against participants in protests against the improvement of courts or the Women's Strike. A number of people remember Jarosław Szymczyk in the context of the grenade launcher affair, which was launched in his office in December 2022. The ongoing investigation did not lead to charges after 12 months. The D.A. only revealed that in the course of the investigation, the weapons were secured and transferred to ballistics experts.
Investigators are inactive awaiting the results of the tests.
