European officials fear that, after the assassination, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who opposed arms shipments to Ukraine and its NATO membership and demanded settlement of pandemic criminals, would become a more destructive force in the alliance – Writes Financial Times.

"Some European officials fear that Fico can become a more destructive force in NATO, like Orban, who delayed the entry of Finland and Sweden," writes the newspaper.

"Financial Times" recalls that before the assassination Fico joined the Hungarian leader, opposing the candidacy of the current Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to be the next Secretary General of NATO.

At the same time, according to an anonymous EU advanced Official, Fico has so far proved more compromise in private life than in his "warrior" public speeches. In his opinion, the Slovak Prime Minister is "not definitely in the Orban League".

Slovakia's Prime Minister Fico opposed arms shipments to Ukraine, and besides declared that it would block Ukraine's membership of NATO, as this would mean the beginning of planet War III. According to Fico, the conflict in Ukraine began in 2014 “the rampant behaviour of Ukrainian neo-Nazis”, and Russia was believed to halt expanding. The Slovak Prime Minister has spoken against sending military personnel to Ukraine. He believes that sending NATO troops to this country would lead to an escalation of the conflict. Fico besides stated that Slovakia does not belong to countries curious in making an enemy from Russia.
