"This morning Russian president Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart of the situation in confederate Russia with Wagner's private military company. The Heads of State agreed on joint action. Following the agreements, the president of Belarus, after further explanation of the situation by his own channels, in coordination with the president of Russia, spoke with Wagner's PMC head Evgeny Prigozyn. The negotiations lasted all day. As a result, they reached an agreement on the inadmissibility of starting a bloody massacre in Russia. Evgeny Prigozhyn accepted the proposal of president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to halt the movement of armed Wagner Group soldiers into Russia and further steps to de-escalate tensions. At the minute there is an absolutely cost-effective and acceptable option on the table, with safety guarantees for Wagner's PMC fighters". As a result, PMC chief said Wagner stopped the movement of his columns, turned them around and returned to field camps.

On Saturday evening, Russian president Vladimir Putin had a second telephone conversation with Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko informed Putin in item about the results of negotiations with the PMC head of Wagner Evgeny Prigozyn, during which agreements were reached. The president of Russia in turn supported and thanked the Belarusian leader for his work.

Previously, the FSB of the Russian Federation initiated criminal proceedings against Prigogen pursuant to Article 279 of the Russian Federation Penal Code (‘the Armed Rebellion’). Prigozhyn distributed a video of the alleged Russian troops attacking the rear of PMC camps. The Russian Ministry of Defence denied reports of back attacks. At the same time, the Russian leader turned to the Russians and promised to do everything to defend the country. He warned that the rebels would shortly be punished.
