TEL AVIV- El Al (LY), Israel’s national airline, has announced a major expansion of its U.S. network, adding 42 weekly non-stop flights to key American cities starting late October 2025.
Flights will connect Tel Aviv (TLV) to New York (JFK), Miami (MIA), Los Angeles (LAX), and Boston (BOS), in response to increased demand from business, Jewish, and Israeli-American communities.

EL AL Airlines US Flights
El Al’s winter schedule will mark its most aggressive U.S. expansion in recent years, aiming to strengthen ties between Israel and major American markets. The airline will operate:
- 27 flights/week on the Tel Aviv–New York (JFK) route
- 6 flights/week to and from Miami (MIA), Florida
- 6 flights/week between Tel Aviv and Los Angeles (LAX)
- 3 flights/week connecting to Boston (BOS)
The Florida allocation, while stated as six weekly flights, remains partially unclear. While El Al previously operated flights to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), it announced in May that the FLL service would end in April 2026.
The airline confirmed that one weekly flight will shift from FLL to MIA starting in October 2025, consolidating Florida-bound operations in Miami.
El Al highlighted that passengers will benefit from its strategic partnerships, particularly with Delta Air Lines (DL), to facilitate smooth domestic connections beyond its U.S. gateways. This collaboration allows broader access to U.S. cities from Tel Aviv via JFK, MIA, LAX, and BOS.

Strong Demand Despite Recent Conflict
The airline cited robust demand from Israeli-American and Jewish communities, alongside business travelers, as the key driver of its U.S. network growth.
El Al (LY) also continues to benefit from increased market share after many international carriers reduced or suspended flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Despite volatile security conditions, El Al maintained uninterrupted operations throughout the war—except during a temporary 12-day shutdown of Israeli airspace during the June 2025 Israel-Iran escalation.
Notably, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has never issued a no-fly advisory for Israel, supporting El Al’s continued service.

United Restarts Tel Aviv Flights
United Airlines (UA) will resume nonstop flights between New York Newark (EWR) and Tel Aviv (TLV) beginning July 21, restoring critical transatlantic connectivity suspended due to regional airspace closures.
The airline will add a second daily service on July 22, reaffirming its operational commitment to Israel and its position as the leading U.S. carrier on this route through 2025.
United Airlines halted its Tel Aviv operations on June 13 after Israel (TLV) closed its airspace amid heightened tensions stemming from the Iran conflict. Following the reopening of Israeli airspace in late June, the airline conducted a comprehensive safety review before confirming its return.
In a statement, United emphasized that its operational decisions are made “after a thorough assessment of operational considerations in the region, and in close coordination with our flight attendants and pilot unions.”
The first resumed flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) will depart on July 21, followed by the reinstatement of a second daily frequency on July 22. United has made tickets available for purchase starting today via its official website.

Competitive Landscape
While Israel’s skies are now open, several major airlines have not yet resumed service. Carriers such as British Airways (BA), Delta Air Lines (DL), easyJet (U2), and Ryanair (FR) continue to assess the situation without confirming return dates.
In contrast, Air France (AF) resumed its nonstop service between Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Tel Aviv (TLV) on July 7. Lufthansa Group (LH), including SWISS and Austrian Airlines, plans to restart operations on August 1, further restoring Europe–Israel connectivity.
United’s early return reinforces its market leadership, having operated more flights to Tel Aviv than any other U.S. airline before the suspension.
Strategic Commitment to Israel
United Airlines’ rapid reinstatement of service underlines its strategic focus on the Israel–U.S. corridor. The airline has long positioned itself as a reliable transatlantic connector, and its decision to resume operations ahead of other American peers—such as Delta—signals confidence in both safety and demand recovery.
This development is also likely to influence broader industry confidence, potentially encouraging other carriers to announce return timelines as operational conditions stabilize.
