GLASGOW— A 41-year-old man was removed from an easyJet (U2) flight EZY609 from London Luton Airport (LTN) to Glasgow Airport (GLA) on Sunday, 27 July 2025, after causing panic by repeatedly shouting religious phrases and falsely claiming to have a bomb.
The incident forced an emergency landing just minutes before the scheduled arrival in Glasgow. The suspect reportedly claimed he intended to send a message to U.S. President Donald Trump, who is currently in Scotland.

easyJet Passenger Arrested at Glasgow
The disturbance began when the man emerged from the aircraft lavatory shouting “Allahu Akbar” with his hands raised, alarming passengers and crew.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect then shouted, “I’ve got a bomb,” prompting confusion and fear among those on board. The man continued by shouting politically charged phrases, including “Death to America, death to Trump.”
Initially perceived as a prank, the situation escalated when the man physically pushed flight attendants, prompting a swift passenger-led takedown. Multiple individuals restrained him until the aircraft landed.
The aircraft, operated by easyJet, made an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport (GLA), where Police Scotland officers boarded the plane, arrested the man, and took him into custody.

Investigation and Airline Response
According to Police Scotland, the suspect, believed to be of Indian origin and reportedly carrying refugee documentation, was detained at approximately 8:20 a.m. local time.
He remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation. No explosives were found, and the suspect later admitted he did not have a bomb.
A spokesperson for easyJet confirmed the incident, stating that the airline’s crew responded quickly to ensure safety. “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival… due to a passenger’s behaviour onboard,” the statement read.
Police Scotland’s counterterrorism unit has taken over the investigation. Officials have not released further details regarding the man’s motives or background.
Crew Training and Passenger Safety
easyJet emphasized that its cabin crew are trained to handle threats and emergencies. Their swift response, combined with the actions of alert passengers, ensured the safety of all onboard. No injuries were reported.
Passengers praised the calm and decisive actions taken by both the crew and fellow travelers in neutralizing the threat before authorities arrived. The flight’s proximity to landing minimized additional disruptions.

Similar Incident
A passenger aboard Allegiant Air (G4) Flight 1023 sparked an emergency response after falsely claiming his laptop was a bomb, forcing the aircraft to return to St. Pete–Clearwater (PIE) shortly after takeoff. The flight was originally bound for Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) on July 6, 2025.
Federal authorities, including the FBI, are now investigating the suspect, 27-year-old Taj Malik Taylor, who was taken into custody after the aircraft landed safely. No explosives were found, but Taylor now faces a serious felony charge.
Passenger’s Bomb Threat Prompts Emergency Landing
According to an FBI affidavit, Taylor was seated in the last row of Allegiant Air (G4) Flight 1023 when he turned to a nearby passenger and stated, “My laptop is a bomb.” Despite inquiries from others, he allegedly repeated the statement and pointed toward his laptop bag.
Multiple passengers overheard the comment and immediately alerted the cabin crew. The flight crew acted swiftly, informing the pilots, who decided to divert the aircraft back to St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE).
The flight landed safely around 2:00 p.m., where law enforcement and bomb-sniffing K9 units were waiting.
Law Enforcement Response and Investigation
Upon landing, Taylor was detained without resistance. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that several passengers provided consistent witness statements. A thorough search of his belongings revealed no explosive materials.
Taylor reportedly told investigators that he had recently been discharged from a mental health facility and was disoriented due to medication. This information was noted in the FBI report, but does not alter the legal consequences of his actions.
