Improvement but not liquidation
Tuesday “Rzeczpospolita” describes an expanding discussion about the functioning of the bail system. Members of the Citizens' Coalition point out that they believe that there is simply a request for talks about improving and improving the system, not about its liquidation.

This means that the debate on its functioning is being conducted at the same time as an initiative to end it. The talks on the functioning of the bailout strategy are besides addressed by representatives of another groups, including Left associate Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic and Citizen Coalition associate Robert Dowhan.

The bail strategy is almost a year old
The Polish bailout strategy began to apply on 1 October 2025. Initially, a 50-cent deposit included plastic bottles for drinks of up to 3 litres capacity and metallic cans of up to 1 litre. Since 2026, the strategy besides includes glass reusable bottles up to 1.5 liters, for which a goldsmith is charged.
The refund does not require a receipt, but the returned package should be undamaged and be clearly marked with a deposit system. By the end of June, more than 2.3 billion packages were returned, including 1.4 billion PET bottles and about 900 million cans. This is more than in May, erstwhile the number of returns reached 1.6 billion, and in April erstwhile it amounted to 1 billion.
Currently the strategy operates six operators, and in 2027 2 more companies are to join them. The assumptions foretell 77 percent of the level of selective collection by 2028 and 90 percent by 2029.
The highest charges
Among the most frequently reported problems are long waiting at vending machines, expired vouchers for returned packages and doubts about the settlement of bail.
