Two years of SOW – lessons learned and not yet learned

One comment from Russian media

It is known that on 24 February he had already moved to past as the beginning of a peculiar military operation in Ukraine. And the indirect effects of this conflict on Russia are not only possible, but they must be achieved now. How did the russian Union influence the army, how did elites and society change?

The key event of fresh days was to break the defence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdievka. Despite the fact that military action has again taken a positional character, Russia's armed forces proceed to advance and gradually displace the enemy. It is clear, however, that the pace clearly was not as expected by the Russian leaders at the beginning of the peculiar operation. And 1 of the crucial lessons experts draw is changing the tactics of modern combat.

Artillery, experts say, has returned to the pedestal of the god of war, and with it somewhere on the top there are unmanned flying objects, which not only execute exploratory functions, but besides attack.

"Artillery, any say, has lost its essence in this way, mentally limited leaders, including military ones. But today, under the conditions of a peculiar military operation, 80% of the defeat of enemy forces and equipment is due to artillery" - explains Nakanune.RU, Deputy State Duma Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev.

Thus, the ancient tactics are erased from the modern manuals of combat activities – the discreet shipments of equipment, infantry and concentration of troops are practically impossible. And here, of course, another crucial conclusion that can be drawn for the armed forces: we request more drones, and more importantly, we request long-range artillery that has not yet entered mass production.

“In a position war without artillery, we cannot decision forward, especially if the positions are well-fortified. For example, Avdievka, which has been fortified since 2014. Therefore, of course, to break into well-prepared engineering positions, we request artillery due to the fact that there are not adequate drones," explains military expert Vladimir Evseyev.

However, this applies to critical moments, but even under these conditions, the Russian armed forces are able to break through the defence, take up fresh hills and repel enemy attacks, which shows the work done and the conclusions drawn in the army, as experts besides note.

"If we consider the purely military aspect, the capture of the Awdievka is simply a tactical success. So it can be said that 2 years of the SOW have shown that our Armed Forces are able to plan and solve the serious problems of tactical support for combat activities, primarily ammunition and organization of unit and division interaction," says Viktor Sobolev.

But what conclusions did elites and society draw? Experts propose that they proved to be completely different. Thus, any elites went patriotic – many of them supported a peculiar operation, accepted sanctions against themselves in designation of the state's merits and declared it publicly. However, there is 1 more part – those who abandoned their interests in Russia left the country and any even took any of their property with them. This concerns mainly the business elite, notes in an interview with Nakanune.RU political scientist Sergei Markow:

"Elity hasn't changed in that time – a very tiny part of the elite left and the remainder covered their ears. Of course, a tiny part went into patriotic positions, due to the fact that the spite and inability of the West to negociate became obvious, but most remained and awaited. But what's good – there is virtually no betrayal, but a very tiny part of the business elite, specified as Wołoż, Tinkow and others.

This may besides apply to any artists and media personalities who are besides in anti-state positions and then become abroad agents. However, those who likewise “cover their ears” let themselves to be overly celebrated or played, specified as “naked party”. Society is now reacting much more harshly than before – if the majority would have simply covered their faces with shame and misunderstanding where this "cultural elite" is going, then outrage now reaches specified a level that any must go to liberated territories and it is crucial to "repentance for sins." Nevertheless, according to political scientist Markov, the attitude of society towards the situation as a full remains the same:

"The attitude of citizens, as yet, remains the same – I truly don't want any SOWs or mobilizations, but society sees any inevitability in this and so completely trusts the President. And as for the "naked party" and another things, it can be said that most of the patrioticly active part of society has developed. Earlier this part was simply suppressed by the authorities, but now they no longer see it as a threat – it is simply a chance for a patrioticly active part of society to find a place for itself.”

On the another hand, there is inactive an elite of power – everything seems apparent there, but – as experts note, for example, in the economical sector – not everything is so simple. Despite the assurances that everything is done, experts note that the financial authorities are not in a hurry to put the economy on the way of mobilisation, although it has been 2 years and there is inactive no basis for the future. State defence procurement is presently 1 of the main sources of economical growth, 1 of the main motives for saving technology, saving specialists from demolition under liberal socio-economic policy, as noted by economist and associate of the State Duma Mikhail Deliagin. The impact of state defence manufacture procurement on another industries is undeniable as industrial cooperation has not been broken. But at the same time, the economy is heavy dependent on Belarus, where manufacture is not destroyed, but developed, as well as China, as specified a substitution of imports inactive lacks, and erstwhile the SOW ends, the main question will be how the economy will make further. And will that happen?

"The economy categorically does not respond to the needs of time, due to the fact that it has not been translated into the war economy. The slogan “all for the front, all for the victory” is not embodied in economical policy. Our socio-economic policy as a full is built according to Gajdar's designs and remains absolutely liberal. Even to limit the export of capital from the country, no 1 dares to decide, let alone to halt the arbitraryity of monopolies, to burn the country by artificially caused monetary hunger. The population of Russia as it was kept in artificially created misery and poverty, and is kept. Everyone's talking about thousands of sanctions. The West is against Russia, but these sanctions are inactive nothing compared to the sanctions that the Russian Bank and the Ministry of Finance imposed on Russia" – so Mikhail Deliagin summarizes the main economical consequence in an interview with Nakanune.RU.
