The first appointments of 18-year-old days are to take place on 1 July of this year, and training starts in 2026. It was previously assumed that women would begin to service in the military from 1 January 2027.

From next year, the military service is to be extended from 4 to 11 months.
The decision to accelerate the universal military service of women was possible thanks to the government's agreement with the opposition organization of the Liberal Alliance, which changed its head on the matter. In Denmark, defence matters require broad political consensus.
The Danish strategy of military appointments consists of accepting volunteers, and erstwhile the letters are not filled, there is simply a draw of drafts from a given year.
