Duda threatens the judges to die by hanging. Bodnar's reaction

Minister of Justice and lawyer General Adam Bodnar wrote to Andrzej Duda a letter after his controversial words about "suspending for treason" in the context of Polish judges. He admitted that "there's no way to walk past them." "They should never die," said the outgoing president.


Bodnar besides posted his writing to Duda on the X platform. "Today I sent a letter to the president of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda in consequence to fresh words which, in my opinion, should never fall out of his mouth," he said at the outset.

The minister did not hide the surprise that "the highest guardian of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland mocks the fundamental constitutional principle" and "refuses the principles of judicial independence". According to Bodnar, "this, however, is nothing against unparalleled threats against judges who would prompt them to quit respect for the Constitution."

"Never before has anyone in Poland, endowed with specified a powerful democratic mandate as the President, threatened judges so openly, straight undermining their rights as a warrant of their independence" – the letter continues.

"These words cannot be ignored. They are a continuation of the attack on the justice strategy coordinated by the President's political camp," Bodnar wrote.



According to the head of MS, Duda "instead of gratitude to the faithful for his appointment of judges, he shows them contempt and incites society towards them". Finally, Bodnar recalled that the president had late received the Order of Freedom, which is the highest honour from the Ukrainian authorities.

"But it should be remembered that erstwhile Ukraine is trying to be a associate of the European Union, including with the support of the President, in its words, you are questioning the quintessentialness of European values of the regulation of law and the independency of the judiciary" - he concluded.
