Drunk driver from Ukraine destroyed a signal in Opole

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, a dangerous incidental occurred in Opole involving a drunk driver. A man, a Ukrainian citizen, drove off the road and damaged the traffic light. A breathalyst test showed almost 2 proms of alcohol in him. The case was seized by the police, and now the court will decide his fate.


Event details:
The event took place at the intersection of Wrocławska and Nysa Lusatia streets in Opole. At 15:47 p.m., the racer pulled off the route, destroying the traffic lights.

– At the same time, an officer of the National taxation Administration arrived at the intersection, who stopped the driver, called the police patrol and handed over the uniformed perpetrator – explains Comm. Agnieszka Zyłek from the Provincial Police office in Opole.

The driver did not require medical attention, but a breathalyzer test showed nearly 2 proms of alcohol in him. As the services emphasize, Border Guards are besides usually informed in specified cases.


Consequences for the driver:
Now the man's destiny will be decided by the court. In Poland, driving under the influence of alcohol of more than 0.5promila is simply a crime, and with specified advanced concentration there are severe penalties, including fines, a ban on driving and even prison.
