On Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the legislature hall of the Cracow University of Technology, a prize was presented to the name Venerable Servant of God Jerzy Ciesielski – Father of the Family.
– I am most pleased to announce that this year's award is awarded to Dr. Piotr Wołochowicz. I am glad that he was awarded, due to the fact that for years I have been observing how he shows the beauty of matrimony and parent love – said Wojciech Zięba, president of the Polish Association of Defenders of Human Life. “I hope that as many people will draw an example from this brave man,” he added.
The chapter of the award in the justification of the decision stressed that Dr. Wołochowicz "shares with his fellows his experience and cognition of the family". The winner has been promoting Christian values through lectures, meetings and publications for more than 30 years. In 1992, he and his wife Mariala founded the household Service Mission Foundation. Dr. Wołochowicz is besides the author and co-author of many books on the biblical image of matrimony and family.
The words of appreciation were addressed to the laureate, among others, Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski, the Kraków metropolitan: – Speaking about any crucial things, in time and not in time costs money. To make genuine solidarity between people is heroic today. But erstwhile we look at the character of today's winner, we can say that Poland has not died yet – said Archbishop Jędraszewski. “In spite of all the challenges, pain and difficulties, you are just a man through a large “c” – he addressed Dr. Wołochowicz.
After the award was presented, the talker was the 1 who was awarded. In a fewer words he shared the challenges that men face: – Our task, modern fathers, is to make children grow up feeling that they are unconditionally loved by us. I love you due to the fact that you're my child, and nothing can make me halt loving you. Children request to know this – said Dr. Piotr Wołochowicz.
The winner emphasized that in life the "passion of fatherhood" is important: – erstwhile we have this interior fire and passion, then raising children is not a nuisance. And we know that present we want to convince ourselves that parenting is terrible.
– erstwhile I look at my sons today, how they behave as fathers, I feel large joy. I can say that, in fact, this is most likely 1 of the top joys a individual can have in life," said Dr. Wołochowicz.
– Today, my sons themselves are fathers. large fathers! They show so much love, concern, effort and dedication to their children! They have a imagination of how they want to rise their children. Similarly, for us, me and my wife Mariolka, the most crucial goal to which we have subjected circumstantial life decisions was that our children should be believers people who will service God," the winner said.
The Servant of God Jerzy Ciesielski – Father of the household Award is awarded by the Chapter established by the “Source” Foundation. After the Foundation's operation ended, in 2021 this initiative was taken over by the Polish Association of Defenders of Human Life. The award shall be awarded to persons who work specifically to advance household values.
The Servant of God Jerzy Ciesielski (1929–1970) witnessed the love of God and his fellowmen with his life. He is associated with 3 characteristic terms: “father of the family, engineer and scientist, Christian of the 20th century”. John Paul II, during a gathering with representatives of the planet of discipline at St Anne's college in Krakow (8 June 1997), said: The servant of the scholar, the ministry of thinking, made the way to holiness.
The award was presented in the legislature Hall of the Cracow University of Technology, whose student and worker was erstwhile the patron of the prize Jerzy Ciesielski (1929–1970), an active associate in the academic pastoral ministry led by Karol Wojtyla and a highly valued candidate for altars.
