Press conference attended by Krzysztof Bosak and Anna Bryłka, 28 May 2024.
Krzysztof Bosak:
– I would like to mention to the dramatic events taking place on the Polish border with Belarus, namely reports of injury with a knife from 1 of the Polish soldiers protecting the border. We are glad that the soldier is no longer in danger, no longer in danger of his life, that he has been clothed and received help.
However, I would like to return to my questions raised in October 2021 in this context. We remember that at that time they were besides police officers – to equip soldiers with means of direct coercion. For We had information that soldiers sent to the border were not equipped with means of direct coercion. They were only equipped with weapons. At the same time, having no green light to usage this weapon due to the authorities' reluctance to escalate this conflict. besides apparent and rational, it must be stressed, the concerns about the occurrence of fatalities in the event of the usage of average military weapons equipped with acute ammunition. This lack, which I pointed out in 2021, may inactive have concrete consequences for the safety of soldiers.
I pointed out at the time, and safety experts pointed out that police formations intended to clash with civilians, and military formations prepared for armed combat are equipped and armed rather differently. In another way, civilians are treated trying to cross borders, otherwise fighting a abroad army. so The usage of troops for border protection with the nonsubjective of avoiding any fatalities requires additional training and additional equipment with means of direct coercion characteristic of police formation.
In our opinion, we should be told whether soldiers serving on the border, presently forced to deal with threats specified as a mixture of illegal immigrants, as well as criminals, due to the fact that if individual attacks with a knife, then he is simply a criminal, or possibly disguised as civilians by any diversion or abroad service officers – whether our soldiers serving on the border are decently equipped with security-giving means of direct coercion.
Unfortunately, we see these recordings, that with the levers the rods of this barrier are bent. any immigrants go to our side of the border and the soldiers who defend this border must follow instructions, instructions that are not public, but possibly this case shows that we should know what the instructions are, namely what the scope of the allowed usage of weapons is.
In our opinion border officers and soldiers should have bloodless means of direct coercion, specified as paralysers, gas or weapons equipped with rubber bullets. However, if there is no correct reaction, they should have the right to usage weapons in the protection of their health, life, and above all in the protection of Polish borders.
Poland cannot become a “humanitarian” approach to illegal immigrants and criminals attacking Polish soldiers or officers with weapons. Poland cannot become a corridor of illegal immigration. Therefore, we express our full solidarity with the officers and with the soldiers. We ask for their equipment and instructions. And we call on the authorities of the Polish State to issue instructions to defend the effective border and to be able to full defend the wellness and life of all servants at the border in accordance with these instructions. So that this is not a subject that raises any doubts. I would besides point out that the Confederacy was the first formation to call for the construction of a dam, to call for good, strong, effective perimetric protection and to call for proper, comprehensive training and equipment for all soldiers and officers serving at the border.
Yesterday I called on the Polish government to challenge the Pact on Migration and Asylum. I besides asked the erstwhile minister Kierwiński why they do not. The minister responded to my questions by avoiding, trying to change the subject. Clearly, this is an uncomfortable subject for them. We have very strong suspicions that Civil Platform policy calculated to defend borders and criticism of the Migration and Asylum Pact is exclusively a run pose and that it will not proceed after the European elections.
We know that there is specified a common strategy of mainstream forces in Europe to operate in this run on safety issues, pose for safety forces and play with fear of war. We condemn specified a strategy of populism and polarizing society and anticipate concrete action. We see the hypocrisy of the current government, as we criticised the hypocrisy of the erstwhile government, the government of the Law and Justice, as we criticise the hypocrisy of the government of the Platform. If the Pact of Emigration and Asylum is not contested, it will prove that these parties are worth themselves and pretend to act before voters to deceive them, and do not act in real terms to defend Poland from mass, controlled and illegal emigration.
Anna Brylka:
– The late adopted Pact on Migration and Asylum does not truly prevent illegal immigration and actually sends an invitation to millions of immigrants from Africa, from the mediate East, from countries outside the European Union in order to illegally cross the border, e.g. Polish-Belarusian, to apply for global protection, and unfortunately specified events can happen more often!
In addition, under the solidarity mechanism, Poland may be forced to relocate illegal immigrants. And unfortunately, the French Prime Minister besides acknowledged this, who says that the migration pact introduces solidarity: “We managed to force the east countries to sign a paper that either accept immigrants or pay them.”
We remind that migration policy is simply a competence of a associate State and the European Union has no competence to form Poland's migration policy and to decide who Poles, who the Polish government wants to let into the Polish Republic.
Unfortunately, there was a situation we had already warned about in 2021. The Confederation was the first at the time of this crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, it has just shown a deficiency of safety for the Polish army, for the Polish Border Guard, and unfortunately present we have this inconsistently conducted policy. Ladies and gentlemen, we talk clearly, not 1 more immigrant.
