President Trump has signed proclamations prohibiting the import of certain Canadian dairy products, alcoholic beverages and motorcycles, going beyond customs and introducing a complete import ban—which constitutes a violent escalation of the U.S.-Canada trade war. Bans to enter into force on 29 September were announced a fewer hours after the Canadian work on US goods of $20 billion began to apply just after midnight.
