House without sound – how to quiet the installations and improve interior acoustics

rzecznikprasowy.pl 2 weeks ago

Noise is an invisible opponent of comfort. It comes from both outside and inside the building – e.g. from sanitary installations or HVAC systems. besides much sound affects concentration, sleep and general feeling. That's why sound insulation is so important. ArmaComfort systems support designers and contractors in creating quiet, user-friendly and space-compliant systems.

The sound is increasingly seen as a real threat to wellness and quality of life. According to European Environment Agency (EEA), besides advanced sound levels can origin irritability, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, and even chronic stress[and]. In homes and apartments where we are looking for rest, it is peculiarly crucial to quiet down the sources of noise, both from outside and generated inside the building by method installations. It is so worth planning effective acoustic isolation at the task stage.

Noise under regulations

The issues of sound protection are clearly defined in Polish law. In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the method conditions to be met by buildings, buildings must be designed and constructed in specified a way as to guarantee an adequate level of sound protection, both for external sound and for indoor sound generated by installations and equipment. The regulations include air, shock and reverberation noise, as well as insulation requirements of partitions and permissible levels of sound emitted into the environment (Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 1 October 2012).

Where does the sound in buildings come from and how do we reduce it?

For residential buildings, the most common sound sources are sewage systems and HVAC installations. Flowing water or air generates air sound that penetrates the rooms through thin walls of pipes and pipes. In contact with the building's structure (e.g. passage through the ceilings) there is besides material sound – carried further through walls and ceilings, frequently to rooms far from the sound source.

In practice, this means circumstantial values – for example, a 110 mm PVC tube and a flow of 2 l/s can make a sound of 55 dB[A] (in vertical installation) or even 61 dB[A] (in horizontal installation). This is importantly more than recommended values for residential spaces.

Well designed and constructed acoustic insulation is simply a real investment in home comfort – says Agnieszka Lisikiewicz, method manager CEE at Armacell Poland Sp. z o.o – It is worth reasoning about it already at the planning stage, due to the fact that silence has a direct impact on regeneration, concentration and well-being.

Isolation of interior installations – silent, effective and safe

To effectively reduce sound from sewage, surviving or rain systems, Armacell has developed the ArmaComfort AB product line. This strategy consists of a layer of ArmaFlex elastomer foam, made of synthetic rubber, which suppresses structural (diameter) sounds and a 2-millimeter EPDM/EVA based acoustic barrier with advanced density. This combination effectively reduces sound penetration into the interiors – as confirmed by independent investigation conducted by Centre Scientifique et method du Bâtiment (CSTB).

ArmaComfort AB products are besides available in versions of Alu and Alu Plus – with an external aluminium layer that improves the aesthetics of the finish and provides advanced class reaction to B-s1,d0 fire.

When planning acoustic insulation at home, it is worth choosing materials that not only effectively suppress the sound, but besides are durable and easy to install. ArmaComfort mats adapt easy to the form of the installation, reducing the hazard of acoustic bridge formation. They will work even in tight method spaces and with complicated tube runs – emphasizes expert Armacell.

Soundproof partitions – not only at the construction stage

For the mutement of the partition walls and ceilings, Armacell offers ArmaComfort Barrier mats – light, flexible and highly thin (1–5 mm) and at the same time effective in damping air sounds. Made of a mixture of EVA/EPM, they can be mounted both inside fresh layered partitions and straight on the surfaces of existing walls or ceilings – besides on HVAC installation channels.

An ArmaComfort Barrier P version was created for spaces already in use, equipped with an adhesive layer and a pearl-white outer surface, which can service as an aesthetic finish or primer for paint. Importantly, all products from this line are from lead, bitumen, halogens and phosphates, making them safe for health, adds Agnieszka Lisikiewicz.
