Three more will shortly be added to respective twelve military units whose professional soldiers receive a service allowance. MON besides wants additional money to be paid to the military serving in the 16th Motorised Brigade, 2nd Bomb Squadron and 16th Reconnaissance Battalion in Elk. The task is at the interministerial stage.
According to the Law on Defence of the Homeland, professional soldiers can number on a number of allowances to pay. Next long service allowance is special, paid for peculiar qualities or conditions of service, any soldiers are given a service allowance. It is utilized for professional service in circumstantial command and management positions (e.g. battalion commander, squadron, squadron, ship II rank, commandant of the sub-chief school). But not just that. Since 2023 it is besides due to those soldiers who service in the units indicated in the regulations. These are, above all, combat units in which a peculiar combat preparedness government affecting the scope and strength of tasks is maintained. Currently, respective twelve units throughout the country receive this supplement, including soldiers 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade, 20 of the Bartoshite Mechanized Brigade, 7 of the Pomeranian Coast defence Brigade, 6 of the Airborne Brigade, or 25 of the Air Cavalry Brigade. all period they can number on an additional PLN 450 to pay (the bet is the product of the calculated amount of PLN 1500 and the multiplier, which for this group of soldiers is 0.30).
Soon the number of beneficiaries of the allowance is expected to expand. In the Ministry of Defence, a draft amendment of the regulation on allowances for basic professional soldiers was created. MON's proposals presume that soldiers from 3 more units will be able to number on an additional PLN 450. It's about 16 Motorised Brigade in Załuski close Nidzica, 2nd Bomb Squad Battalion in Stargard and 16 Reconnaissance Battalion in Ełk.
Ministry representatives point out that this solution is essential for respective reasons. They item the current geopolitical situation, the request to grow the armed forces and the ongoing process of filling up units. ‘In view of the nature of the tasks carried out and planned by these units, it appears appropriate to include professional soldiers serving in the structures of these units an addition of service’, they inform the MON. The hotel hopes that the introduction of specified a solution will let faster completion of units, e.g. in the recently formed 16th Motorised Brigade or 16th Reconnaissance Battalion, will besides be a financial incentive for those soldiers who already receive specified an addition and would consider starting service in 1 of the 3 mentioned units.
MON estimates that the inclusion of additional units is an yearly cost of about PLN 4.6 million. This year, assuming the regulations enter into force on 1 May, the costs are expected to amount to about PLN 3 million. It'll be covered by the MON from its budget.
The service allowance shall be paid in advance on the first working day of the period for which it is due.
